Located inside the lower abdomen, palpation reveals a mass the size of a palm, hard and hot to the touch, with slight pain, frequent urination, sweating accompanied by aversion to cold, normal abdominal skin color, or slight swelling; it can be cured using Xihuang Wan (Calculus Bovis Pill).
Ma Yuanyi stated: The treatment of this condition should primarily focus on resolving blood stasis and promoting diuresis. Decoctions should be taken; only when necessary should Xihuang Wan be used as a general remedy.
At the onset, pain occurs inside the patella, resembling wind-cold invasion. Over time, the knee swells and thickens daily while the thigh atrophies. This is known as Crane’s Knee due to its shape resembling that of a crane. The specific treatment involves taking fresh Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Baizhi), decocting it in wine until it forms a paste, storing it in a porcelain bottle, and taking two qian of the paste daily with aged yellow wine. Additionally, apply two or three qian topically to the affected area until the swelling subsides. Alternatively, take Yanghe Tang (Warming Harmony Decoction) daily, and externally apply powder made from Sinapis Semen (Baijiezi) mixed with fermented rice wine to resolve the swelling.
Ma Yuanyi stated: Crane’s Knee is caused by deficiency of the Three Yin meridians, resulting from external wind-cold and dampness sinking from the Spleen, or by Liver-Kidney Yin deficiency with damp-heat sinking downward. Yanghe Tang is not suitable; even herbs like Baizhi and Baijiezi should not be used if heat signs are present.
Occurring on both sides of the lower abdomen, in the junction with the thigh, shaped like a kidney bean, with unchanged skin color, hard like a nodule, and slightly painful upon pressure. Drinking Jiaoci Zhou (Zanthoxylum Porridge) daily can completely resolve it within three to four days. Alternatively, take Zilong Wan (Child Dragon Pill), 3 fen per dose, delivered with light ginger soup three times daily, until recovery. Incision is strictly contraindicated; if incised, no pus will emerge, only white greasy fluid, leading to death within 300 days. Spontaneous ulceration yields similar fatal outcomes.
Ma Yuanyi stated: Hengxuan (Transverse Abscess) is formed by the coagulation of degenerate semen and damp-phlegm; thus, Jiaoci and Zilong Wan seem inappropriate for use.
Initially, a small lump appears in the breast, painless and non-itchy, resembling Luoli (Scrofula) or Ehe (Malignant Nodule). This is phlegm coagulated by Yin-cold, often caused by grief, sorrow, hardship, or fright. Initially, take Xihuang Wan, 3 qian per dose, with wine; ten doses can lead to recovery. Alternatively, take Yanghe Tang added with 5 qian of Tu Beimu (Fritillaria Thunbergii Bulb) decocted in water; resolution may occur within a few days. If mistakenly treated with plaster applications, the mass will inevitably enlarge daily, causing internal pulling pain. Treatment becomes difficult once the skin color changes. It is recommended to take Yanghe Tang daily, or Xihuang Wan daily, or alternate the two medicines morning and evening, until spontaneous ulceration occurs. Then, use six large Toad skins (Chanhu); dissect them open including viscera, puncture holes in the toad body, and apply to the ulcerated wound for three consecutive days. Internally, take Qianjin Tuoli San (Thousand-Guarding Support Powder), and after three days, resume Xihuang Wan. Among ten patients, three or four may be saved. If post-ulceration brings intense itching instead of pain, recovery is impossible. Incision is strictly contraindicated; if incised, "flower-turning" ulcers form, which are most tragic, with zero survival rate. Both men and women can suffer from this disease.
Ma Yuanyi stated: Ruyan (Breast Cancer) is a disease caused by Qi and Fire stagnation in the Heart and Liver meridians, and emotional injury. It is not phlegm coagulated by Yin-cold. Yanghe Tang must absolutely not be taken, as it accelerates ulceration, leading to certain death. Xiaoyao San (Free and Easy Wanderer Powder) is the safest option. Furthermore, Xihuang Wan contains Ruxiang (Frankincense), Moyao (Myrrh), and Shexiang (Musk), which are pungent, bitter, warm, and drying, and should definitely be avoided.
