(You Yong [Abscess of the Flank], Du Yong [Abdominal Abscess], Yukou [Fish Mouth], Tun Yong [Gluteal Abscess])
Those arising in the heart region are named Jingkou Ju (Well-mouth Carbuncle). Those arising in the flank are named You Yong (Flank Abscess). Those arising in the abdomen are named Du Yong (Abdominal Abscess). Those arising in the wrists of hands or feet are named Chuangu Ju (Bone-penetrating Carbuncle). Those arising in the groin crease are named Yukou (Fish Mouth). Those arising in the buttocks are named Tun Yong (Gluteal Abscess). The treatment for these conditions follows the previous methods.
Patients suffering from Jingkou Ju should use this formula frequently. It is also suitable for other conditions.
Yuanshi Rou (Polygala Flesh, 1.5 liang, core removed, soaked in Licorice water and fried), Lvdou Fen (Mung Bean Powder, 2 liang), Gancao (Licorice Root, 5 qian, fried), Ming Xuxiang (Clear Frankincense, 2 liang, fried with earth), Chen Sha (Cinnabar, 2 qian, finely ground and washed with water).
Grind all into a fine powder. Take 3 qian per dose, swallowed with boiled water.
For treating Yukou (Fish Mouth), Biandu (Perineal Abscess), Qima Yong (Horse-riding Abscess), and Heng Xuan (Transverse Stricture/Abscess), when they are in the early stage and have not yet suppurated, this formula is appropriate.
Ercha (Kino), Xuejie (Dragon's Blood), Xuxiang (Frankincense), Moyao (Myrrh), Qingmuxiang (Aquilaria Wood), Chanshanjia (Pangolin Scales, fried, each 1 qian).
Grind the above ingredients into equal parts as powder. Use Guiwei (Angelica Sinensis Tail) 3 liang, Honghua (Safflower) 2 liang. Decoct in wine to make a paste, form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take 2 qian per dose. Swallow on an empty stomach with hot wine. Internal administration and external application will lead to spontaneous resolution.
Cut open a large walnut, insert two Quanxie (Whole Scorpion) inside, burn to charcoal while preserving its nature, grind into powder, and take with hot wine.
Dingchuang (Carbuncle/Furuncle) initially appears as small as a mustard seed, resembling a pimple, or a small blister hard like a carbuncle, hence named Ding (钉/Carbuncle). Generally, if the flesh is red and swollen with a localized root, it is auspicious. If it is flat and swollen with grayish-white surroundings, it is ominous. The manifestations vary, and colors differ. There are five colors: red, purple, yellow, white, and black, corresponding to the Five Zang Organs. If occurring on both feet, there are often red threads extending to the umbilicus. If on the hands, red threads extend to the heart region. If on the face and lips, red threads extend to the throat. All are difficult to treat. One should quickly prick the red threads to bleed; many patients survive. If occurring at the extremities, the toxin becomes more stagnant, and medicines find it hard to reach. The efficacy of Moxibustion (Ai Jiu) is significant. Internally administering Juhua Gancao Tang (Chrysanthemum and Licorice Decoction) is highly effective. If one recklessly uses purgative agents, it damages the True Qi (Zhenqi); not only will the toxin not be eliminated, but harm will follow. The treatment methods are described in the preceding ten methods.
