Wu-Bai Lai (a severe stubborn skin disease, divided into Wu-Lai and Bai-Lai) is caused by the invasion of malignant wind pathogens; touching taboos or suffering injuries can also induce this condition. Its symptoms include numbness and itching penetrating to the bone, yet painless upon needle pricking. Recovery can be achieved by employing methods to dispel wind and nourish blood.
[Note] Both syndromes are formed due to the invasion of malignant wind pathogens between the skin and blood level, causing fire pathogen stagnation and consuming blood, as well as resulting from touching taboos or suffering injuries. They are divided into two types: Wu and Bai. Wu-Lai initially presents with blackening of the skin and hair, rashes resembling urticaria, itching sensation like insects crawling, persistent numbness in hands and feet, insensitivity to needle pricking, blurred vision as if seeing hanging threads, frequent palpitations and delirious speech, and a hissing sound emitted when opening the mouth during eating or speaking. It is suitable to take Pi Wan (Skin Pill), and externally apply Da Hei Shen Gao (Great Black Divine Ointment). Bai-Lai presents with skin gradually turning white, hoarseness, blurred vision, persistent pain in limbs, high fever, frequent mental restlessness and vexation, flaccidity of hands and feet, stiffness and tension of the back and spine, muscle sensation like needle pricks, nasal polyps, and white foam around the pupils. It is suitable to take Bai Hua She San (White Snake Powder), and externally apply Ban Mao Gao (Mylabris Ointment). Both syndromes should frequently drink Ku Shen Jiu (Sophora Root Wine). If Bai-Lai patients suffer from constipation, it is first suitable to take Zui Xian San (Intoxicating Immortal Powder), followed by Tong Tian Zai Zao San (Heaven-Penetrating Rebirth Powder); expelling foul matter brings immediate effect.
