The Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian originates at the ulnar end of the little finger, runs along the posterior lateral aspect of the arm, anterior to the malleolus. From the wrist malleolus, it ascends to the lateral aspect of the elbow, then follows the posterior lateral aspect of the upper arm, passes behind the shoulder, winds around the scapula, crosses at the shoulder, penetrates the neck, and reaches the side of the mandible angle. The acupoints can be located in the depression below the zygomatic bone; the pearl-like point in the ear (Tinggong, SI19) is a complete acupoint of this meridian.
[Note] The Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian starts at the lateral tip of the little finger, about the width of a leek leaf from the corner of the nail. It travels from the lateral side of the hand to the front of the wrist malleolus, runs along the posterior lateral aspect of the elbow, ascends along the posterior lateral aspect of the upper arm behind the shoulder, and then rises to the shoulder. From the shoulder, it penetrates the neck, passes obliquely upward over the cheekbone (zygomatic bone), and ends in front of the ear.
The Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian originates at the inner canthus of the eye, ascends to the forehead, intersects at the vertex, and is sought behind the ear. It descends to the nape, follows the medial aspect of the shoulder blades, runs parallel to the spine, reaches the waist, and penetrates downward through the buttocks. After penetrating the buttocks, it slants into the Weizhong (BL40) acupoint, where it joins with a branch in the popliteal fossa. It penetrates the medial aspect of the thigh, emerges posterior to the lateral malleolus, and terminates at the Zhiyin (BL67) acupoint on the lateral side of the little toe.
[Note] The Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian originates at the inner canthus, ascends to the forehead, intersects at the vertex, and proceeds backward from the vertex to the posterosuperior angle of the ear. It descends to the nape, following the medial aspect of the shoulder blades. There are two pathways: one pathway runs parallel to the spine, 1.5 cun lateral, reaching the middle of the waist. In the waist, there are four spaces; from the middle of the waist, it descends through the buttocks into the popliteal fossa. The other pathway divides left and right from the medial aspect of the shoulder, descends through the scapula, runs parallel to the spine on the medial side, 3 cun lateral, passes below the hip joint pivot, follows the posterior lateral aspect of the thigh, and joins the first pathway in the popliteal fossa. Below, it penetrates the medial aspect of the thigh, emerges posterior to the lateral malleolus, follows the Jinggu (BL64) acupoint to the lateral tip of the little toe, about the width of a leek leaf from the corner of the nail, and terminates at the Zhiyin (BL67) acupoint.
The Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian originates at the center of the sole, ascends past the medial malleolus and the heel of the foot, emerges upward and enters the medial aspect of the thigh, reaching the chest region where it divides.
[Note] The Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian originates in the depression at the center of the sole, follows the medial malleolus into the heel of the foot, connects above the medial malleolus, ascends and divides, emerging from the posterior medial aspect of the thigh, ascending to the inguinal crease. From the inguinal crease, it ascends, 1 cun lateral to the anterior midline of the abdomen, to the umbilicus. From the side of the umbilicus, it ascends again, 1.5 cun lateral to the midline. Ascending from the abdomen to the chest, it terminates 2 cun lateral to the midline.
