Dislocation of the mandible (lower jaw) is caused by Qi deficiency, which fails to constrain the joint. The patient sits upright with a straight posture. Support the lower jaw with both hands, insert the left and right thumbs into the mouth, placing them on the molars. Firmly hold the lower jaw, press downwards towards the shoulders to open the joint, and push upwards towards the back of the head to reduce it into the joint. Immediately use a silk strip to support the chin and fix it to the top of the head for about half a shichen (one hour). Remove it, and the condition will heal.
Self-inflicted throat cutting is a sudden emergency requiring immediate rescue; delay leads to cold forehead and cessation of breath, making rescue impossible. At the initial moment of injury, if breath has not ceased and the body is not yet cold, immediately suture the wound with silk thread, apply Taohua San (Peach Blossom Powder), ensuring generous application. Cover the medication on the wound with four or five layers of cotton paper. Lift the head with an old cloth, wrap around five or six times, and tie tightly. The patient lies supine with a high pillow under the head to keep the neck flexed and not straight, preventing the wound from opening. Avoid wind in winter and summer, and keep warm with clothing and bedding. Once the patient's breath returns through the nose and mouth, decoct five slices of fresh ginger, two qian of Renshen (Ginseng), and one he of Jingmi (Japonica Rice) in water, or consume thin congee at will daily to reconnect and tonify Yuan Qi (Original Qi). After three days, urgently remove the previous dressing and medication. Apply Taohua San (Peach Blossom Powder) to the wound and re-bandage urgently. After two days of bandaging, urgently wash the wound with strong Scallion Decoction using soft silk, pat dry, and use a blunt probe to take Yuhong Gao (Jade Red Ointment), melt it in the palm, and apply it to the wound. Cover with thin pieces of old cotton wool, then wrap with Chang Hei Gao (Long Black Plaster), crossing the wraps tightly to prevent slipping. On both sides of the wound near the throat, apply strips of black plaster (four cun long, two cun wide) vertically onto the main plaster, sticking the ends to healthy skin to prevent detachment. Finally, wrap with silk strips three times and suture the head. In winter, change dressings every three days; in summer, every two days. Wash with scallion water, pat dry, and change medicine each time. Pain will naturally cease, and flesh will gradually grow together from both ends. Internally administer Bazhen Tang (Eight Treasure Decoction) for regulation for over a month. If constipation occurs, use the Pig Gallbladder Method; do not use laxatives. For bilateral transection of the pharynx/throat, healing takes one hundred days; for unilateral transection, healing is achieved within forty days. This method was used to treat the bandit Guo Zhong, the constable Sha Wan, and the servant Gu Xing, all of whom had bilateral throat transections and were near death; they were all saved. More than ten cases of unilateral throat transection were treated and ensured safe recovery.
