Putaoyi (Grape-like Purpura) predominantly affects children. It arises from contracting the irregular Qi of the four seasons, which stagnates in the skin and fails to dissipate, forming blue-purple spots of varying sizes resembling grapes. These appear all over the body, head, and face, constituting a Fu-organ syndrome. The pathogenic location lacks distinct exterior or interior differentiation. If the evil toxin transmits to the Stomach, it causes bleeding from the gum roots; prolonged illness leads to deficiency, after which the spots gradually recede. In the initial stage, Lingyang San (Antelope Horn Decoction) is indicated to clear heat and cool blood. For prolonged cases, Weipi Tang (Stomach and Spleen Decoction) is used to nourish and tonify the interior. For those with rotting gum roots, Renzhongbai San (Human Urine Deposit Powder) is applied.
Lingyang San (Antelope Horn Decoction)
Lingyang San comprises Zhi Mu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix), Niu Zi (Arctii Fructus), and Xuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix).
Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Mai Dong (Ophiopogonis Tuber), and Dan Zhu Ye (Lophatheri Herba) together exert the most effective efficacy in stopping bleeding and eliminating purpura.
Ingredients: Ling Yang Jiao (Ceraticornis Cornu), Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Mai Dong (Ophiopogonis Tuber), Xuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix), Zhi Mu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix), Niu Zi (Arctii Fructus) (each 8 fen); Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (2 fen).
Add two zhong of water and ten slices of Dan Zhu Ye (Lophatheri Herba), decoct until one-sixth remains, and take after meals.
Weipi Tang (Stomach and Spleen Decoction)
Weipi Tang contains Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Chen Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Mai Dong (Ophiopogonis Tuber), Wu Wei Zi (Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus), and Sha Shen (Glehniae Radix).
Fu Shen (Poria cum Radice), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), and Yuan Zhi (Polygalae Radix) are combined; this formula brings peace for patients with deficient pulses and spontaneous sweating.
Ingredients: Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Fu Shen (Poria cum Radice), Chen Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Yuan Zhi (Polygalae Radix), Mai Dong (Ophiopogonis Tuber), Sha Shen (Glehniae Radix) (each 6 fen); Wu Wei Zi (Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (each 5 fen).
Add two zhong of water, decoct until one-sixth remains, and take after meals. For patients with weakness and spontaneous sweating, remove Sha Shen (Glehniae Radix) and add Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix) and Huang Qi (Astragali Radix), each 5 fen.
Renzhongbai San (Human Urine Deposit Powder) (See section on Kougan/Oral Ulcers)
Bai Chong Ru Er (Hundred Insects Entering the Ear) refers to accidental entry, such as flies or mosquitoes entering the ear canal. Instill a few drops of Ma You (Sesame Oil) into the ear orifice; the insects will die and can be removed. For larger insects like centipedes or bees, roast meat until fragrant and place it near the ear; the insects will smell the fragrance and exit voluntarily. If insects enter secretly at night, do not panic or shout loudly, as this may startle them into attacking inward. Sit upright, shine a light into the ear orifice, and the insects will exit seeing the light. If someone watches from the opposite side, the insects may not exit.
E Chong (Vicious Insects) are born from inheriting Yin-Yang toxic seeds. Do not touch their foulness upon sight. For instance, the centipede uses pincers, the scorpion and bee use stingers, and the vicious snake bites with its tongue. They emerge intentionally to inject venom and harm humans, knowing their toxicity. Upon injury, treat according to the specific type.
Centipede Bite: Pain and swelling erupt suddenly. Grind Chan Su Bing (Toad Venom Cake) into a thick paste and apply to the wound. Roll coarse paper into a twist, dip in Ma You (Sesame Oil), ignite it, and fumigate the area with smoke; pain and swelling will subside. Another prescription: Grind Xiong Ji Fen (Rooster Manure) with water and apply. Another prescription: Apply Tou Gou (Hair Scurf) to the wound and fumigate with smoke.
Scorpions have male and female types: Male scorpion stings cause localized pain; female scorpion stings cause pain radiating throughout the body. Apply Jing Di Ni (Mud from the bottom of a well) to the painful area; replace when dry. If mud is unavailable, use freshly drawn cold water with a green cloth applied to the painful area; replace when it warms up. Another prescription: On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, melt two liang of Huang La (Yellow Beeswax). When nearly solidifying, add three qian each of fine Xiong Huang (Realgar) and Zhu Sha (Cinnabar), mix evenly, and mold into a cake-shaped cavity. Still, use the white juice of Mao Er Yan Cao (Segethornia Root) and drip it into the cavity on the Dragon Boat Festival; dry in shade. The longer it ages, the better. Mold into blocks and store tightly. To use, prick a piece about one millimeter long onto a needle tip, melt with a lamp flame, and drip onto the sting site; pain stops immediately.
Snake Poison Injury: Use Xiong Huang (Realgar) powder and Lan Ye (Orchid Leaf) juice, mixed and applied to the swelling. Internally, crush Ban Zhi Lian (Scutellaria Barbata) to extract two liang of juice, mix with four liang of hot wine, and drink; covering with blankets to induce sweating is effective. Apply the dregs to the wound externally, which is also excellent. Another prescription: Immediately after injury, use five qian of Cang Er Cao (Xanthii Herba) collected on the Dragon Boat Festival, decocted in water to one zhong, and taken hot; inducing sweat brings relief. If Dragon Boat Festival collection is unavailable, use normally collected and shade-dried herbs, decoct one liang, and induce sweating for effectiveness.
Seven-Cun Snake: Green, flat-shaped, with a pointed tail and short legs. Red-mouthed snakes have mild toxicity; green-mouthed snakes have severe toxicity. They bite with their tongues, and their venom is most malicious. Initially bitten, use one qian of Xiong Huang (Realra) powder and two qian of Sheng Fan (Alumen) melted in a spoon. Dab the medicine onto the wound with a chopstick tip; replace when cooled. Repeat seven times to cure. If toxins enter the interior, take one qian of Jie Du Zi Jin Dan (Detoxifying Purple Gold Pill) dissolved in wine; inducing sweat leads to recovery. If delayed treatment causes toxin spread and increased swelling/pain, fumigate with Ma You (Sesame Oil) flame for improvement.
He Tun Du (Pufferfish Poison) and Xue Du (Blood Poison) affecting humans cause tongue numbness and chest oppression. Crush Bai Mao Gen (Imperatae Rhizoma) to extract juice, chill it, and drink. Zi Du (Sub-type poison) causing unconsciousness, abdominal distension, trismus, and difficulty speaking is resolved by Jin Zhi (Golden Juice). No other method suffices.
