Lougu Chuan (Mole Cricket Striation) is caused by excessive worry damaging the Spleen, leading to Qi stagnation. This disease mostly affects those with deficient and thin Qi and Blood, as the four limbs belong to the Earth element of the Spleen; thus, lesions often occur on both hands. Initially, there is pain in the bones, gradually developing into diffuse swelling that is hard, without heat or redness. Swelling occurs in several blocks connecting the back of the hand and the areas before and after Neiguan (PC6), making movement impossible. After a long time, it breaks open, discharging fluid resembling tofu dregs, spreading through various orifices, flowing day and night, while pain and swelling persist. The patient appears sallow and emaciated, with reduced appetite, alternating chills and fever during the day, and internal symptoms manifesting together. Throughout the course of the disease, Yi Qi Yang Rong Tang (Qi-Nourishing and Blood-Enriching Decoction) and Jia Wei Xiao Yao San (Modified Free Wanderer Powder) are suitable to harmonize Qi and Blood, support the Spleen and Stomach. Only two or three out of ten cases may recover. If tonification fails, death due to exhaustion of Qi and Blood is common.
Yi Qi Yang Rong Tang, Jia Wei Xiao Yao San (see Scrofula Section).
Dou Feng Chuang (Chickenpox Wind Ulcer) arises from residual toxins from smallpox or measles not fully cleared, leaving heat in the skin, compounded by external wind invasion. Symptoms begin with itching from fine ulcers, which gradually spread into patches, exuding serum and forming scabs. Excessive scratching necessitates the application of Mai Jiang San (Wheat Paste Powder), along with dietary restrictions and avoidance of wind for self-healing.

Mai Jiang San treats Dou Feng Chuang: Sulfur and Realgar should be proportioned equally; Sichuan Pepper, raw and calcined Alum in equal parts; mix with Sesame Oil for application, resulting in natural recovery.

Take one sheng of wheat, stir-fry until charred yellow, place in a mortar while hot, add four liang of Sulfur and one liang of White Arsenic, grind into fine powder and mix well. Let cool and remove; add half a jin of Tobacco Resin, three liang of Sichuan Pepper, and two liang each of raw and calcined Alum. Grind all into fine powder. Before use, wash the lesion with Scallion Decoction, apply mixed with Sesame Oil, cover with oil paper, change every three days. Three applications will cure.
Chi You Dan (Red Roaming Erysipelas) receives toxicity before birth and manifests after birth. While in the womb, the fetus relies on paternal essence and maternal blood for nourishment. If parents cannot restrain their desires, excessive fire flares up, invading the fetus; if they do not avoid rich foods, charcoal heating, or heavy quilts, heat accumulates, affecting the fetus. After birth, hot water bathing, heated clothing, and薰 steaming can trigger internal toxins. Upon onset, fever, crying, and convulsions appear first, followed by red, swollen, shiny, and hot areas that migrate rapidly without fixed locations. If starting from the forehead, it is called Tian Duo Dan (Heaven-Plundered Dan); treat with Sheng Ma Ge Gen Tang (Cimicifugae et Puerariae Decoction) taken by mother and child together. Lesions starting on the abdomen/back spreading to limbs are mild; those starting on limbs spreading to chest/abdomen are severe. In all cases, phlebotomy (Bian Fa) to release bad blood is essential. After phlebotomy, apply fresh lean pork slices for about one hour, then replace with Ru Yi Jin Huang San (Ruyi Golden Yellow Powder) mixed with juice of Musa Basjoo root. Severe cases require twice-daily changes. Internally administer Da Lian Qiao Yin (Large Forsythia Drink), Xiao Du Xi Jiao Yin (Detoxifying Rhinoceros Horn Drink), or Wu Fu Hua Du Dan (Five Blessings Detoxifying Pill). If toxins enter the interior causing abdominal distension, hardness, and refusal to nurse, use Zi Xue San (Purple Snow Powder) to purge. After three days, if the body cools completely, flesh at phlebotomy sites becomes soft and mobile, voice clear, abdomen soft, and nursing normal, this is favorable (Shun); otherwise, it is unfavorable (Ni).
