(For those whose disease originates in the throat, symptoms in the throat may be observed.)
In cases where dampness is predominant, it is appropriate to first promote the draining of dampness.
In cases of excess syndrome at the exterior, it is appropriate to first release the exterior.
In cases of excess syndrome at the interior, it is appropriate to first unblock the interior.
If both the exterior and interior are in an excess state, release the exterior and purge the interior simultaneously.
In cases of deficiency syndrome at the exterior, tonify Qi.
In cases of deficiency syndrome at the interior, nourish Blood.
In cases where both the exterior and interior are deficient, tonify Qi and nourish Blood.
A patient suffered from lesions all over the body, with a rapid pulse (Shu) on the left hand. Jingfang Baidu San (Jingfang Decoction for Overcoming Toxins) was administered, after which the exterior symptoms subsided. Xianfang Huoming Yin (Immortal Elixir Decoction for Activating Life) was then given for six doses, leading to gradual healing of the sores. Bixie Tang (Dioscorea Hypoglauca Decoction) was taken concurrently, resulting in full recovery after more than a month.
A female patient presented with pain, fever, constipation, and thirst, with a deep and solid pulse (Chen Shi). Neishu Huanglian Tang (Internal Purging Coptis Decoction) was administered for two doses, resolving the interior symptoms. Longdan Xiegan Tang (Gentian Decoction to Drain the Liver) was then given for several doses, causing the toxin of the sores to recede abruptly. Bixie Tang was taken intermittently, leading to full recovery after more than a month. (This treatment was based on symptoms and pulse diagnosis.)
A male patient developed chancre in the lower part, which did not respond to various medications and spread to the entire body. The area became swollen and protruding, resembling turned-over flowers, accompanied by tendon spasms and bone pain, which were worse at night. This was caused by damp-heat in the Liver and Kidney. Daoshui Wan (Water-Guiding Pill) was administered for five doses, followed by Longdan Xiegan Tang for several doses, and then herbs to drain dampness and strengthen the Spleen. Shenyi Gao (Divine Heterogeneity Plaster) was applied externally to draw out pus, and garlic-separated moxibustion was used to extract the toxin, resulting in cure. (This treatment was based on symptoms.)
For exterior excess syndromes, use Jingfang Baidu San; for interior excess syndromes, use Neishu Huanglian Tang; for simultaneous exterior and interior excess syndromes, use Fangfeng Tongsheng San (Windproof Unobstructed Powder); for Qi deficiency, use Sijunzi Tang (Four Gentlemen Decoction); for Blood deficiency, use Siwu Tang (Four Substance Decoction). Herbs targeting accompanying symptoms should still be added, leading to complete cure. However, if calomel (Qingfen) or similar drugs are ingested, the toxin may be retracted inward, causing recurrent outbreaks. If Fangfeng Tongsheng San is indiscriminately used, it further depletes Qi and Blood, leading to many untreatable deaths.
A patient presented with alternating chills and fever, thirst, and constipation, with solid pulses in both hands. Fangfeng Tongsheng San was used to resolve the symptoms, followed by Jingfang Baidu San combined with Longdan Xiegan Tang, resulting in recovery. (This treatment was based on symptoms.)
A patient presented with swelling and pain at the lesion site. Longdan Xiegan Tang and Daoshui Wan were each administered for four doses, yielding slight improvement. Xiaochaihu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction) plus Huangbai (Phellodendron Bark) and Cangzhu (Atractylodes Rhizome) was given for more than fifty doses, leading to remission. (This treatment was based on symptoms.)
A patient presented with swelling and ulceration of the penis, red urine, and a wiry and rapid pulse (Xian Shu) in the Liver position. Xiaochaihu Tang plus Mutong (Akebia Stem), Qingpi (Tangerine Peel), and Longdancao (Gentian Root) was administered for four doses. Longdan Xiegan Tang was then given for several doses, resulting in recovery. (This treatment was based on pulse and symptoms.)
A child presented with lesions on the penis spreading to several spots on the lower abdomen, accompanied by pain and fever. Xiaochaihu Tang was taken with Lubin Wan (Aloe Pill), and Shenyi Gao was applied, resulting in recovery after more than a month. (This treatment was based on symptoms.)
After recovering from the disease, a patient had a swollen lump on the leg that ulcerated and failed to heal for a long time. Crushed garlic was applied to the affected area, moxibustion was performed above it, Shenyi Gao was applied, and Heiwanzi (Black Pills) along with interior-supporting medicines were ingested, resulting in recovery after two months. (This treatment was based on symptoms.)
A female patient ignited calomel medicine and fumigated herself under blankets, causing her skin to collapse all over her body with profuse discharge of pus and fluid, making movement impossible. Powders of Huashi (Talcum) and Huangbai were mixed equally with Luzhifen (Mung Bean Starch) and spread on the mat to allow her to lie down. Jinyinhua San (Honeysuckle Powder) was then administered, resulting in recovery after more than a month. (This treatment was based on symptoms.)
A patient recovered completely except for a very hard swelling on the back, with unchanged skin color, which only ulcerated and discharged fluid after more than a year, remaining untreated for three years. Both Qi and Blood were deficient, with reduced appetite and mental fatigue. Liujunzi Tang (Six Gentlemen Decoction) plus Danggui (Angelica Sinensis) and Huoxiang (Pogostemon) was administered for more than thirty doses, followed by Bixie Tang, resulting in recovery after more than two months. (This treatment was based on symptoms.)
Another patient presented with severe disease progression and concurrent deficiency of Spleen and Stomach Qi and Blood. They also recovered after taking the aforementioned medicines.
A female patient recovered completely except for palm-sized ulcers on both thighs and groins, accompanied by tendon spasms and bone pain, remaining untreated for three years despite various medications. In the late afternoon, she had reduced appetite and mental fatigue. Bixie Tang combined with Xiaoyao San (Free and Easy Wanderer Powder) with increased amounts of Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome) and Fuling (Poria) was administered for several doses, stopping heat and improving appetite. Shenyi Gao was applied, followed by Bazhen Tang (Eight Treasures Decoction) plus Niuxi (Achyranthes Root), Duzhong (Eucommia Bark), and Mugua (Chaenomeles Fruit) for more than thirty doses, resulting in recovery. (This treatment was based on symptoms.)
There is also a convenient method for treating Yangmeichuang (Syphilis/Kaposi's Sarcoma-like sores), effective regardless of whether the condition is new or old, within ten days. Daily, use 3 qian 5 fen of Danfan (Alum) and Baifan (White Alum) powders, along with Mercury, mixed with a small amount of Sesame Oil and Saliva. Sit in a draft-free place, take a small amount of the mixture, and apply it to both soles of the feet. Rub vigorously with the palms against the soles for a long time. Apply a little more medicine and rub again as before. After using up the medicine, lie down. Sweating, passage of foul stool, or discharge of foul saliva indicates efficacy. Continue rubbing for three consecutive days. Then bathe with decocted Fangfeng Tongsheng San, and ingest Neishu Huanglian Tang and Baidu San. After recovery, take Bixie Tang; add Huangqin (Scutellaria Root) and Lianhua (Lotus Plumule) if there is heat; add Renshen (Ginseng) and Huangqi (Astragalus Root) for Qi deficiency; use Siwu Tang for Blood deficiency.
After recovering from Yangmeichuang, a patient had ulcers approximately two cun in size on both legs and one arm, with one lesion discharging profuse pus, accompanied by poor appetite and insomnia, failing to heal for a long time. Bazhen Tang plus Fushen (Poria with Hostwood) and Suanzaoren (Ziziphus Seed) was administered. Crushed garlic was applied to the affected area daily, followed by prolonged moxibustion, and subsequently plaster application. After slight improvement in a few days, Douchi Moxibustion (Fermented Soybean Moxibustion) was used, followed by Shiquan Dabu Tang (Ten Great Tonifying Decoction), resulting in recovery. (This treatment was based on symptoms.)
For any swelling and hardness, or pain, garlic moxibustion and Zhonghe Gao (Neutralizing Plaster) application, along with internal tonic medicines, are also effective.
