Xu Baiyun stated: A nun suffered from aversion to wind, physical fatigue, alternating chills and fever, facial flushing, mental restlessness, and spontaneous sweating. At that time, epidemic qi was prevalent. The fever was mistakenly treated as Taiyang Shanghan (Cold Damage), with Da Chaihu Tang and Xiao Chaihu Tang administered indiscriminately. After several days, the condition worsened. I examined the pulses at the three positions (Cun, Guan, Chi) and found no signs of pathogenic cold; however, the Liver pulse was wiry and long, extending to the Yuji area (thenar eminence). It was appropriate to use herbs that suppress Yin heat. Thus, this formula was used.
Qinjiao (Gentianae Radix), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Ying Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) (each 5 qian), Chishao Yao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra) (1 liang), Sheng Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix) (1 liang, steamed in wine and pounded into paste).
Pounded into fine powder, mixed with the Rehmannia paste, added with a small amount of refined honey, and formed into pills the size of wu-tong seeds. Take 30 pills each time, washed down with Wu Mei Tang (Mume Decoction), twice daily.
For treating abscesses where pus has not yet formed: If the patient's constitution and Qi are normal, it is suitable to take this pill. If the form and Qi appear deficient, first take Yiqi Yangrong Tang (Qi-Nourishing and Blood-Enriching Decoction); wait until Qi and Blood are slightly replenished before taking this pill. Once the nodule dissolves, continue taking the previous decoction. If there is hypergranulation tissue after ulceration, Zhentou San (Needle-Head Powder) is suitable. If it does not heal, also take this pill. After healing, resume taking the previous decoction.
Baizhu (Stir-fried), Binglang (Arecae Semen), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Mituoseng (Lithargyri Massica), Yuliren (Pruni Semen) (soaked in water and peeled), Gancao (Licorice Root) (each 5 qian), Banmao (Mylabris) (wings and feet removed, stir-fried with glutinous rice, discard rice, 5 qian).
Pounded into fine powder, bound with water starch paste into pills the size of wu-tong seeds. Take 20 pills morning and evening, washed down with a decoction of Gancao and Binglang. After about a month of administration, slight abdominal pain may be felt, and toxins will be discharged via urination, resembling fish eyes. Ulcers that have already ruptured will heal naturally; those not yet suppurated will dissipate on their own.

First, place the arsenic powder into a purple clay jar. Then cover it with alum powder. Calcine over charcoal fire until all smoke ceases. Remove and grind into an extremely fine powder. Mix with glutinous rice paste to form sticks resembling incense. Insert into the wound 3-4 times for recent cases, or 5-6 times for chronic cases. The root of the disease will naturally rot and ulcerate. If the wound is exposed externally, apply a mixture of honey and water topically.
