Xue Lizhai stated: In the method of acupuncture and moxibustion, there are taboos regarding Taiyi Renshen (Taiyi Human Spirit), Zhouxue Jinji (Whole-body Blood Taboo). There is a specific "Kaoshen" (Sacrum Spirit) for each year and a specific "Renshen" location for each day. Regarding certain acupoints, there are discussions on prohibitions against needling and moxibustion. Violating these taboos makes the disease difficult to cure, which is indeed the principle. However, in cases of sores and ulcers, Qi and Blood have already been damaged, and muscles have already necroted. It is urgent to adopt the methods of "Ying Er Duo Zhi" (meeting and seizing/reducing excess) and "Shun Er Qu Zhi" (following the trend to extract), which differs from ordinary acupuncture treatment. What is there to fear? *Waike Jingyi* (Essentials of Surgery) states: In sore and ulcer conditions, if toxins cannot be resolved through normal channels, and pus and blood stasis cannot be drained, they will attack inward. If the internal righteous Qi has already collapsed, how can one expect survival? This is a critical and malignant condition; when it occurs in vital locations, disaster strikes in the blink of an eye. Examples include abdominal abscesses and scrotal abscesses causing obstruction of urination and defecation, chest and abdominal distension and oppression; lip carbuncles and throat bi syndrome causing swelling and blockage of the throat and pharynx, where the disaster is particularly rapid. Patients must exercise caution.
Xue treated a neighbor whose finger suffered from a carbuncle. The patient presented with numbness, itching, aversion to cold, fever, nausea, and numbness throughout the left half of the body, with a rapid pulse. Xue used Duoming Dan (Life-Rescuing Pill), but it was ineffective. He then used detoxifying agents, after which the numbness and itching subsided, but swelling and pain ensued. He intended to needle, but it happened to be a Kaoshen day, and the patient's family refused. The swelling worsened. Xue forcibly performed needling, and all symptoms instantly receded. He then used detoxifying agents to achieve a cure.
Method One: Use several seeds of Tianma Zi (Gastrodia Seed), about one qian of Qianfen (Lead Powder), grind them into a paste, add about one bowl of Tongyou (Camellia Oil), and mix evenly. Dip cotton in the mixture and brush it thoroughly over the affected area, alternating with non-oiled paper. It is necessary to frequently peel off and replace the dressing to prevent sticking. Method Two: Mix raw Tongyou (Camellia Oil) and cooked Zhuyou (Pig Fat) in equal proportions, and make oiled paper according to the above method.
