This syndrome is suitable for regulation from the Heart and Stomach. The Heart is the root of innate true qi (Yi Zhen) and the development of the spirit mechanism (Shen Ji). The Stomach is the reservoir of grain, serving as the manifestation (Biao) that replenishes the great true qi. These two are inextricably linked. The prescription should use Huangqi (Astragalus Root) as the sovereign drug, Renshen (Ginseng Root), Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root), and Baishao (White Peony Root) as the minister drugs, Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root), Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig), Gouteng (Uncaria Rhynchophylla), Zhuli (Bamboo Sap), Jiangzhi (Ginger Juice), and Jiu Zhi (Leek Juice) as the assistant and envoy drugs. If one indiscriminately administers herbs such as Wutou (Aconite Lateralis Radix Preparata), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata), or Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix) without discernment, thereby depleting Ying Qi (Nutritive Qi) and consuming Wei Qi (Defensive Qi), death resulting from such treatment is effectively murder by the physician.
Prescription: Renshen (1.5 qian), Huangqi (2 qian), Danggui (2 qian), Baizhu (1.5 qian), Banxia (1 qian), Gan Ge (0.8 qian), Shengjiang (2 slices). Decoct and take orally.
People often treat this syndrome using wind-dispelling drugs, but rarely see success. This formula regulates Qi and Blood, hence it is invariably effective; do not add or subtract ingredients arbitrarily.
Prescription: Danningxing (Arisaema cum Bile) (8 qian), Xionghuang (Realgar) (1.5 liang), Zhusha (Cinnabar) (2 qian), Renshen (2 qian), Tianzhuhuang (Calami Tuber) (1.5 qian), Fuling (Poria) (2 qian), Jinbo (Gold Foil) (2 qian), Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride) (2 qian), Gancao (Licorice Root) (4 qian).
Grind all into fine powder, decoct to make a paste, form into pills the size of beans, coat with one sheet of pure gold, dry in the shade ensuring no loss of aroma. Grind the pill and take with Bohe Tang (Mint Decoction).
Prescription: Chantui (Cicada Slough) (remove head and feet cleanly, grind to powder) (5 qian), use one bowl of good wine, boil vigorously, add the powder, mix well, and take; consciousness will return immediately.
Also attached is another treatment formula:
Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), You Toufa (Oily Human Hair), Ma Wei Luo Di (Bottom of Horsehair Sieve), Yang Fen Dan (Sheep Feces Pellets) in equal parts. Grind all into fine powder, take mixed with Yellow Wine.
This syndrome is either excess or deficiency. One must examine the cause, inspect the pulse, and correlate the symptoms to distinguish clearly between the two.
If it is excess accompanied by constipation, use Dachengqi Tang (Major Order the Qi Decoction). If it is deficiency accompanied by loose stools, use Dushen Tang (Single Ginseng Decoction); if accompanied by cold limbs (Jue Ni), add Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Lateralis Radix).
