The symptom of severe vomiting, characterized by prickles on the tongue and redness and swelling of both eyes, is often mistaken by people as a heat syndrome; however, it is actually caused by a deficiency of Kidney Water (Shen Shui). (Recorded in *Fu Qingzhu's Andrology*)
First, rub the sole of the foot with your hand until it becomes extremely hot. Then, decoct one piece of Fuzi (Aconite Lateralis Radix Preparata) in water, dip a goose feather into the decoction, and apply it to the area. Apply continuously as it dries, and the vomiting will stop immediately. Regrettably, contemporary physicians have mistakenly administered miscellaneous medicines, resulting in dysphagia and food impaction (Ye Ge). The prescription is as follows:
Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shu Di Huang) – 2 liang
Cornus Fruit (Shan Yu Rou) – 1 liang
Schisandra Berry (Bei Wu Wei Zi) – 2 qian
Scrophularia Root (Xuan Shen) – 1 liang
Angelica Sinensis Root (Dang Gui) – 5 qian
Achyranthes Bidentata Root (Niu Xi) – 3 qian
This is because when Kidney Water is insufficient, the Large Intestine inevitably becomes dry and narrow. When food enters the Stomach, it cannot descend, thus causing regurgitation upwards.
In cases of retroflexion vomiting (Fan Wei) where food is vomited immediately after ingestion, it is due to Kidney Water deficiency failing to moisten the throat, leading to dryness of the throat and immediate expulsion of food. The prescription is as follows:
Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shu Di Huang) – 2 liang
Cornus Fruit (Shan Zhu Yu) – 5 qian
Chinese Yam (Shan Yao) – 1 liang
Alisma Rhizome (Ze Xie) – 3 qian
Moutan Cortex (Dan Pi) – 3 qian
Poria (Fu Ling) – 5 qian
In cases of retroflexion vomiting (Fan Wei) where food is vomited after a long period, it is due to Kidney Fire deficiency failing to warm the Spleen, resulting in Spleen Cold and subsequent regurgitation. The prescription is as follows:
Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shu Di Huang) – 2 liang
Cornus Fruit (Shan Zhu Yu) – 1 liang
Chinese Yam (Shan Yao) – 6 qian
Aconite Lateralis Radix Preparata (Fu Zi) – 3 qian
Poria (Fu Ling) – 3 qian
Alisma Rhizome (Ze Xie) – 3 qian
When Cold Evil invades the Kidney Palace, it carries away all the fluids of the Spleen and Stomach, causing them to be expelled entirely. This results in cold limbs and reversal cold (Jue Ni), and sometimes unbearable pain in the lower abdomen. Applying hot objects to warm the lower abdomen...
The prescription is as follows:
Aconite Lateralis Radix Preparata (Fu Zi) – 1 piece
Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome (Bai Zhu) – 4 liang
Cinnamon Twig (Rou Gui) – 1 qian
Dried Ginger (Gan Jiang) – 3 qian
Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Ren Shen) – 3 liang
Decoct in water and take orally.
Upon swallowing, the vomiting ceases immediately. Decocting and taking the dregs ensures complete recovery.
People assume that vomiting is due to Stomach Deficiency, unaware that it may stem from Kidney Deficiency. Therefore, if treatment for vomiting fails, it is because the root cause of the disease has not been identified. The prescription is as follows:
Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Ren Shen) – 3 qian
Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome (Bai Zhu) – 5 qian
Coix Seed (Yi Yi Ren) – 5 qian
Euryale Seed (Qian Shi) – 5 qian
Amomum Fruit (Sha Ren) – 5 pieces
Evodia Fruit (Wu Zhu Yu) – 5 qian
