It is stated that: Zhuru (Stalactite) belongs to the Yin within Yang. Shi (Stone minerals, such as Zi Shiqing) belongs to the Yang within Yin. Zhuru has always contained the essence of Yin and Yang, residing in the deepest Yin, where Zheng Yang (Upright Yang Qi) lies dormant within.
When Zheng Yang stirs, it becomes a pathway for the Eight Winds (pathogenic factors from nature), encountering no obstruction. Alternatively, diseases may arise due to mutual triggering between drugs or improper diet. These conditions are now recorded in detail.
Shennong and Tongjun deeply understood the properties of medicines; therefore, the incompatibilities, mutual fears, and aversions among herbs were fully documented in the Bencao (Materia Medica). However, in the Jiangzuo region, there are methods using Dao Yin (guiding and pulling exercises) to restrain and resolve drug toxicity, with treatments described as follows:
Zhuru (Stalactite) and Baizhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) are incompatible. Although Zhuru itself is not toxic, Zhuru can trigger Baizhu, and Baizhu can also trigger Zhuru. Zhuru primarily treats lung diseases and extends upward to the chest and head. If Baizhu triggers Zhuru, it causes chest congestion and shortness of breath; if Zhuru triggers Baizhu, it causes headache and eye pain. However, the symptoms arising from the interaction between Zhuru and Baizhu must be treated promptly with Cong Chi Tang (Scallion and Fermented Soybean Decoction).
Cong Chi Tang Formula:
Cong Bai (Scallion White, 8 stalks, remove roots and cut) Chi (Fermented Soybean, 2 he) Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, 1 liang, remove rhizome head) Gancao (Licorice Root, 1 liang, stir-baked until slightly red)
The above ingredients are finely chopped. Add one large bowl (or two, depending on textual variant) of water, boil down to one and a half bowls. Remove the dregs. Divide into three warm doses. After taking the medicine, immediately have someone massage the body and shake the limbs.
If the previous medication does not resolve the symptoms, take Gancao Tang (Licorice Decoction) next.
Gancao Tang Formula:
Gancao (Licorice Root, 1 liang, stir-baked until slightly red) Guixin (Cinnamon Twig Heart, 0.5 liang) Chi (Fermented Soybean, 2 he) Cong Bai (Scallion White, 8 stalks, remove roots) Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, 0.5 liang, remove rhizome head) Maimendong (Ophiopogon Tuber, 0.5 liang, remove heart)
The above ingredients are finely chopped. Add three large bowls of water, boil down to one and a half bowls. Remove the dregs. Divide into two or three warm doses.
Huangqi (Sulfur) triggers Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root) and Xixin (Asarum). Huangqi primarily treats spleen and kidney diseases and circulates through the waist and legs. When Fangfeng triggers Huangqi, it causes irritability, heat, leg pain, and lower back pain, or uncontrolled anger, and incontinence of diarrhea. Fangfeng and Xixin can trigger Huangqi, but Huangqi cannot trigger them. At the first sign of activation, take Duzhong Tang (Eucommia Bark Decoction).
Duzhong Tang Formula:
Duzhong (Eucommia Bark, 1 liang, stir-bake to remove coarse skin, then bake until slightly yellow) Zhizi Ren (Gardenia Seed, 10 pieces) Chi (Fermented Soybean, 2 he) Zhiqiao (Immature Bitter Orange, 0.5 liang, bran-fried until slightly yellow, remove pulp)
The above ingredients are finely chopped. Add three large bowls of water, boil down to one and a half bowls. Remove the dregs. Divide into three warm doses.
If the previous medication does not resolve the symptoms, it is appropriate to take Damai Nu Tang (Barley Sprout Decoction).
Damai Nu Tang Formula:
Damai Nu (Barley Sprout, 1 liang) Maimendong (Ophiopogon Tuber, 0.5 liang, remove heart) Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, 0.5 liang, remove rhizome head) Chuan Mangxiao (Mirabilite, 1 liang) Guixin (Cinnamon Twig Heart, 0.5 liang) Gancao (Licorice Root, 0.5 liang, stir-baked until slightly red)
The above ingredients are finely chopped. Add three large bowls of water, boil down to one and a half bowls. Remove the dregs. Divide into three warm doses.
Baishiying (Quartz Crystal) triggers Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root). Baishi Ying primarily treats stomach diseases and extends to the spleen and kidneys. Fuzi triggers Baishi Ying, causing irritability and abdominal/flank discomfort. Baishi Ying triggers Fuzi, leading to vomiting and regurgitation... [Text implies continuation of symptoms].
Maimendong Tang Formula (for complications of Baishi Ying triggering Fuzi):
Maimendong (Ophiopogon Tuber, 1 liang, remove heart) Mahuang (Ephedra Herb, 0.5 liang, remove root joints) Gancao (Licorice Root, 0.5 liang, stir-baked until slightly red) Chi (Fermented Soybean, 2 he)
The above ingredients are finely chopped. Add three large bowls of water, boil down to one and a half bowls. Remove the dregs. Divide into three warm doses.
If the previous medication does not resolve the symptoms, it is appropriate to take Dahuang Tang (Rhubarb Decoction).
Dahuang Tang Formula:
Chuan Dahuang (Rhubarb Root and Rhizome, 1 liang, chopped and lightly fried) Chi (Fermented Soybean, 2 he) Zhizi Ren (Gardenia Seed, 14 pieces) Gancao (Licorice Root, 0.5 liang, stir-baked until slightly red and chopped) Xixin (Asarum, 0.5 liang)
The above ingredients are finely chopped. Add three large bowls of water, boil down to one and a half bowls. Remove the dregs. Divide into three warm doses.
If the heat syndrome persists, it is better to take Gualou Tang (Trichosanthes Fruit Decoction).
Gualou Tang Formula:
Gualou (Trichosanthes Fruit, 1 liang) Damai Nu (Barley Sprout, 1 liang) Gancao (Licorice Root, 1 liang, stir-baked until slightly red) Cong Bai (Scallion White, 8 stalks, remove roots) Chi (Fermented Soybean, 2 he)
The above ingredients are finely chopped. Add three large bowls of water, boil down to one and a half bowls. Remove the dregs. Divide into three warm doses.
Zishiqing (Purple Quartz) triggers Renshen (Ginseng). Zishiqing primarily treats heart and liver diseases, while pain mainly concerns the kidneys, treating waist and leg issues. Renshen triggers Zishiqing, causing heart anxiety and pain, palpitations, insomnia, mental confusion, erroneous actions, loss of normal temperament leading to madness, a desire to sleep secretly, lethargy, fluctuating severity, alternating chills and fever, deafness, and blurred vision. Furthermore, although Fangfeng does not trigger Zishiqing, Zishiqing can trigger Fangfeng, which also causes heart pain, irritability, and neck stiffness. Upon feeling the onset, take Renshen Tang (Ginseng Decoction).
Renshen Tang Formula:
Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, 1 liang, remove rhizome head) Baizhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, 1 liang) Xixin (Asarum, 0.5 liang) Chi (Fermented Soybean, 2 he) Guixin (Cinnamon Twig Heart, 0.5 liang) Gancao (Licorice Root, 0.5 liang, stir-baked until slightly red)
The above ingredients are finely chopped. Add three large bowls of water, boil down to one and a half bowls. Remove the dregs. Divide into three warm doses. If lethargy is severe, add Dahuang (Rhubarb), Huangqin (Scutellaria Root), and Zhizi (Gardenia Fruit), each 0.5 liang.
If erratic behavior and madness persist, take Maimendong Tang (Ophiopogon Decoction).
Maimendong Tang Formula:
Maimendong (Ophiopogon Tuber, 1 liang, remove heart) Cong Bai (Scallion White, 8 stalks, remove roots) Chi (Fermented Soybean, 2 he) Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, 0.5 liang, remove rhizome head) Gancao (Licorice Root, 0.5 liang, stir-baked until slightly red)
The above ingredients are finely chopped. Add three large bowls of water, boil down to one and a half bowls. Remove the dregs. Divide into three warm doses.
Haige (Clam Shell) triggers Gualou (Trichosanthes Fruit). If Haige activates first, it causes irritability and heat in the hands and feet. If Gualou activates first, it causes trismus, aversion to cold, and clear nasal discharge. Take this formula.
Gualou Tang Formula (for Haige triggering Gualou):
Gualou (Trichosanthes Fruit, 1 liang) Gancao (Licorice Root, 1 liang, stir-baked until slightly red and chopped) Chuan Dahuang (Rhubarb Root and Rhizome, 0.5 liang, chopped and lightly fried) Zhizi Ren (Gardenia Seed, 14 pieces)
The above ingredients are finely chopped. Add three large bowls of water, boil down to one and a half bowls. Remove the dregs. Divide into three warm doses.
Shizhishi (Red Halloysite) triggers Jiegeng (Platycodon Root). Shizhishi primarily treats diseases from the heart to the chest and back. Jiegeng triggers Shizhishi, causing heart pain, cold chills with trismus, cold extremities, and mental restlessness. Shizhishi triggers Jiegeng, causing headache, red eyes, and high fever. Upon feeling the onset, it is suitable to take it with warm wine. Depending on the patient's tolerance, once the alcohol circulates, the toxicity will resolve. One may also take rice porridge along with Cong Bai (Scallion White, 2-8 stalks, remove roots), Chi (Fermented Soybean, 2 he), and Gancao (Licorice Root, 2 liang, stir-baked until slightly red).
The above ingredients are finely chopped. Add three large bowls of water, boil down to one and a half bowls. Remove the dregs. Divide into three warm doses.
Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root) triggers Baishi Ying (Quartz Crystal) and also triggers Shizhishi (Red Halloysite). When Fuzi activates, it causes vomiting and regurgitation, limb pain, body stiffness, joint pain, stiff neck, and swelling of the face and eyes.
Dahuang Tang Formula (for Fuzi triggering Baishi Ying/Shizhishi):
Chuan Dahuang (Rhubarb Root and Rhizome, 1 liang, chopped and lightly fried) Huangqin (Scutellaria Root, 0.5 liang) Zhizi Ren (Gardenia Seed, 0.5 liang) Cong Bai (Scallion White, 2-8 stalks, remove roots) Chi (Fermented Soybean, 2 he)
The above ingredients are finely chopped. Add three large bowls of water, boil down to one and a half bowls. Remove the dregs. Divide into three warm doses.
