Treats all types of carbuncles, sores, back eruptions (back abscesses), brain boils, and various toxic ulcers. It is also suitable for painful breast abscesses. The Xionghuang Ointment Formula is recommended for all these conditions.
Xionghuang (Realgar) [2 liang, finely ground] Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix) [2 or 3 fen] Lulu (Euphorbiae Humifusae Herba) [3 fen] Luoshi (Trachelospermi Caulis) [3 fen] Xuduan (Dipsaci Radix) [3 fen]
Yingshi (Rubiae Fructus) [3 fen] Zige (Puerariae Radix) [0.5 liang] Fangji (Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix) [0.5 liang]
Chishao Yao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra) [3 liang] Bailian (Ampelopsis Radix) [1 liang] Ziwan (Asteri Radix et Rhizoma) [1 liang, cleaned of soil]
Huangdan (Lithargyrum) [15 liang] La (Cera Flava) [4 liang] Qingyou (Clear Sesame Oil) [1 sheng]
The above herbs are chopped into small pieces and soaked in 2 sheng of wine overnight. First, place the oil in a pan; heat gently until hot, then add the herbs. Boil until the Bailian turns dark red, then filter out the herb residues. Add the wax and melt it. Wipe the pan clean with cotton cloth, return the oil to the pan, and add the Huangdan. Stir continuously with a willow twig over low heat until the color turns black. Test by dropping a small amount into water; if it forms bead-like shapes, the ointment is ready. Remove from heat, add the finely ground Xionghuang powder, and mix evenly. Pour into a porcelain container for storage.
Apply the ointment spread on old silk cloth, changing the dressing daily until healed.
Treats carbuncles, sores, back eruptions, swollen feng-toxins, and all types of skin infections and boils, promoting internal resolution and pain relief. The Huangdan Ointment Formula is used.
Huangdan (Lithargyrum) [24 liang, lightly fried and finely sifted] Mayou (Sesame Oil) [2.5 jin] Zhuzhi (Suill Fat) [8 liang, from December] Songzhi (Pinus Resin) [4 liang] Ziwan (Asteri Radix et Rhizoma) [1 liang] Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata) [1 piece, size of a chicken egg] La (Cera Flava) [appropriate amount]
The above herbs are chopped. First, melt the oils and fats in a pot. Then add the herbs and simmer over gentle heat for half a day. Next, add the Songzhi and La, cooking until fragrant. Filter out the dregs using cotton cloth. Return the filtered medicinal oil to the pot, add the Huangdan, and stir constantly until uniform. When the color changes to purple and the consistency is appropriate (neither too hard nor too soft), store in a porcelain box. Spread on old silk cloth and apply externally.
Treats all types of malignant carbuncles, back eruptions, foul ulcers, as well as scrofula ulcers. The Tongshen Ointment Formula is used.
Xionghuang (Realgar) [2 liang, finely ground] Huangdan (Lithargyrum) [1 or 8 liang, finely sifted] La (Cera Flava) [6 liang] Nifen (Calomelas) [0.5 liang] Moyao (Myrrha) [1 liang, powdered] Qilinjie (Dragon's Blood) [1 liang, powdered] Shexiang (Moschus) [1 fen, finely ground] Sangzhi (Mori Ramulus) [4 liang] Huaizhi (Stemonae Radix? Note: Context suggests Pruni Rami or similar, but text says Huai Zhi, likely Sophorae or similar branch, kept as Huaizhi) [4 liang] Yiyi (Gecko) [3 pieces] Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) [3 fen] Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) [2 liang or...] Gaoben (Ligustici Wallichii Rhizoma et Radix) [3 fen] Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma) [3 fen]
The above herbs are finely chopped. First, pour oil into a pan and heat gently until hot. Add the chopped herbs and boil until the Baizhi turns yellow-black. Filter through cotton cloth, wipe the pan clean, add the La, and melt. Pour the medicinal juice back into the pan, add the Huangdan, then add all other powdered herbs. Stir constantly until the consistency is appropriate. Test by dropping into water; if it does not disperse, the ointment is ready. Store in a porcelain box, seal tightly, and hang at the bottom of a well overnight to remove "fire toxicity."
Apply spread on old silk cloth twice daily until healed.
Treats all types of malignant toxic swellings. The Disheng Ointment Formula is used.
Muxiang (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum) [1 liang] Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma) [1 liang] Xuduan (Dipsaci Radix) [1 liang] Mangcao (Artemisiae Argyi Folium? Note: Text says Mang Cao, likely distinct herb) [1 liang] Huaizhi (Branch) [1 liang] Mubiezi (Strychni Semen) [1 liang, shell removed] Liuzhi (Salicis Ramulus) [1 liang] Chenyou (Aged Oil) [1.5 or 1 jin]
The above seven ingredients are finely chopped and boiled in oil until smoke ceases. Filter out the dregs with cotton cloth. Add the following herbs:

All herbs except Huangdan, La, and fats are pounded and finely sifted. First, boil the oil in a silver pot until bubbling, then add the Huangdan and stir with a willow spatula until it turns black. Add the powdered herbs and mix well. Bury in a pit in the ground overnight to remove fire toxicity. Avoid water contamination during boiling. For back eruptions, take orally on an empty stomach with wine: 7 pills the size of a wu-tong seed, up to three doses only. Additionally, spread on old silk cloth and apply externally, changing twice daily.
Treats back eruptions, carbuncles, breast abscesses, penetrating wounds, all malignant ulcers, nodular swellings, and pain. The Zijin Ointment Formula is used.

The above herbs are chopped and soaked in two large cups of wine overnight. Melt the pig and mutton fat in a pan, bring to a boil, add the herbs, and simmer over gentle heat. When the Baizhi turns yellow-black, add the La and melt. Filter through cotton cloth, pour into a porcelain box, and add Qilinjie, Shexiang, Zhusha (Cinnabar), and Naobing. Mix well. Apply spread on old silk cloth, changing twice daily.
Treats all malignant ulcer swellings. The Da Chuanyun Ointment Formula is used.

All herbs, except those already ground and the Huangdan, are finely ground. First, boil the oil, add the chopped herbs, and boil until the Baizhi turns yellow-red. Filter through cotton cloth, wipe the pan clean, reheat, add the Huangdan, and stir with a willow spatula until black. Add the La, melt completely, and test by dropping into water; if it forms beads that do not disperse, add the remaining powdered herbs and mix well. Store in a porcelain box. Indications:
