In the context of Cold Damage (Shanghan) diseases, when both the Taiyang (Greater Yang) and Shaoyin (Lesser Yin) meridians are simultaneously affected (Taiyang-Shaoyin concurrent disease), the pulse is floating and tight. If purgation is mistakenly applied, the pathogenic factor instead sinks inward, resulting in the formation of a Pi syndrome (epigastric fullness/stuffiness). "Pi" refers to a sensation of fullness in the epigastrium. If the disease originates from the Yin aspect, Pi-fullness does not occur.
