The Foot-Shaoyin meridian is the meridian of the Kidney. It governs the bone marrow, and its flourishing aspect manifests in the hair. If blood and Qi are abundant, the Kidney Qi is strong; if Kidney Qi is strong, the bone marrow is full, thus the hair is lustrous and black. If blood and Qi are deficient, the Kidney Qi is weak; if Kidney Qi is weak, the bone marrow becomes exhausted, leading to white hair.

Treatments for premature whitening of hair due to blood deficiency causing emptiness of brain marrow, deficiency of all Zang-Fu organs, insufficiency of blood and Qi, young age with white hair, early whitening due to worry and sorrow, blurred vision, and tearing upon exposure to wind.
