The blood of the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian (Zu Shao Yin Shen Jing) nourishes the hair. When Qi and Blood are abundant, the hair becomes lustrous and black; if they are deficient and exhausted, failing to nourish the hair, it turns yellow.
Formula for Soaking Oil to Massage the Scalp and Blacken Yellow Hair:
Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, peeled and de-navel, raw use), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, removed radicle), Juanbai (Selaginellae Tamariscinae Herba), Linglingxiang (Lingnanxiaodou's Flower or similar aromatic herb, often Pogostemon cablin or similar in ancient texts, here Linglingxiang), Manjingzi (Viticis Semen), Lianzicao (Commelinidae Herba), Zhizhu Hua (Daphne Genkwa Flower).
The above herbs are finely chopped, wrapped in silk, and soaked in two jin of raw oil for three days. Slightly decocted to extract medicinal power, then cooled. Apply to the top of the head each time, rubbing until absorbed into the skin.
Formula to Turn Yellow-Red Temples and Hair Black:
Sheng Baiye (Fresh Biota Top), Zhu Gao (Pig Fat, one jin).
The above herbs: crush the Baiye into powder, mix with Zhu Gao to form twenty pills. Wrap one pill in cloth, dissolve in rice wash water, and use to wash the hair. Use once daily.
Another Formula:
Take the sheep manure mentioned above, burn it to ash, mix with pig fat from the twelfth lunar month, and apply. Apply three times a day and once at night. Stop when hair turns black.
Another Formula:
Apply Bear Fat to the hair, comb frequently. Using no more than one jin of this medicine, the hair should turn black.
Another Formula:
Wumei (Dark Plum, fifty pieces).
Crush the above herbs slightly, soak in one jin of raw Sesame Oil. Apply to the head regularly.
Another Formula:
Hei Shen (Black Mulberry Fruit, two jin).
Soak the above herbs in one sheng of water, apply to the hair regularly. Very effective.
Another Formula:
Heidou (Black Soybean, three sheng).
Boil the beans in seven sheng of water until soft. Remove the beans, boil the liquid until thick. Apply to the hair regularly. Effective.
Generally, humans have nine types of parasites within the abdomen. When Qi and Blood are deficient, these parasites can erode the body. The Ascaris lumbricoides or Enterobius vermicularis (Nao Chong) activation is most likely to cause sores, leading to conditions such as abscesses, tinea, and scabies.
Formula for Shechuangzi Paste to Treat Baldness (Bai Tu):
Treats baldness where sores appear all over the head, persisting for years without healing.
Shechuangzi (Cnidii Fructus, three liang), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus, three liang), Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix, three liang, removed core), Tusizi (Cuscutae Semen, five liang, separately crushed), Rongshen (Cistanche Stem, two liang), Songzhi (Pine Resin).
The above herbs are finely chopped. With one sheng two he of pig fat and two he of white honey, first decoct the first five herbs. Perform "three up and three down" (heating and cooling cycles). Formula to Kill Parasites and Relieve Pain for Baldness and Various Head/Face Sores:
Wangbuliuxing (Vaccariae Semen, three liang), Tao Dongnan Zhi (Southeast Branch of Peach Tree, three liang), Wuzhuyu Gen (Evodiae Radix Root, three liang), Shechuangzi (Cnidii Fructus, five liang), Mujingzi (Vitexis Fructus, five liang), Ku Zhu (Bitter Bamboo, likely leaves or bark).
The above herbs are finely chopped and mixed evenly. Divide into three doses. For each dose, boil in fifteen sheng of water until seven sheng remain. Filter out dregs, warm, and use to wash the sores. Once daily.
Formula Suitable for Treating Baldness Sores:
Wutou Mo (Aconiti Radix Powder, half liang, raw use), Liuhuang (Sulfur, half liang, finely ground), Nifen (Calomelas or similar mercurial compound, one fen), Gou Fen (Dog Excrement, one liang, white ones, finely ground), Badou (Crotonis Semen, one fen, removed shell/oil).
Grind the above herbs together uniformly. Mix with raw oil. First wash with hot rice wash water, then with hot starch water, finally wash clean with raw Licorice root water.

Mulan Pi (Magnolia Bark), Mujingzi (Vitexis Fructus), Qin Jiao (Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix, removed sprouts), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, peeled and de-navel, raw use), Chuan Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), Shinan (Rhododendri Mollis Folium), Kushen (Sophorae Flavescentis Radix) (each one liang above), Bai [Missing character, possibly Bai Lian or Bai Xian Pi].
