Women suffering from breast carbuncle (Ru Ju, a type of deep-seated abscess) present with local swelling and stiff skin, where the surface texture is rough like the skin on a cow's neck; this condition is termed "Ju" (carbuncle). The Foot-Yangming Stomach meridian has a branch descending from the Quepen (ST12) acupoint to the breast area. If heat pathogenic factors remain stagnant in the body for a long time without dissipating, they will corrupt and transform into pus.
For women with breast carbuncle and associated symptoms such as alternating chills and fever, and pain, it is appropriate to apply Fuzi San (Aconite Powder) externally.
Ingredients: Fuzi (Prepared Aconiti Lateralis Radix, 1 liang, peeled and umbilicus removed); Lilu (Veratri Rhizoma, 0.5 liang, rhizome head removed).
Preparation and Administration: Pulverize the above ingredients and sieve them into fine powder. Mix with vinegar to form a paste and apply to the affected area. Reapply when the paste dries.
Another prescription:
Rice flour (1 he); Egg white (3 units).
Preparation and Administration: Mix the ingredients thoroughly, spread onto a piece of cloth, and apply over the carbuncle. Make a small hole in the cloth to allow the discharge of toxic vapors. Replace with a fresh application when dry.
Another prescription:
Fuzhendi (Kettle-bottom ash, 1 liang); Egg white (3 units).
Preparation and Administration: Pound and mix the ingredients thoroughly and apply. This method is particularly effective if the lesion has already ulcerated.
Another prescription:
Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, 1 liang, pounded into powder); Egg white (3 units).
Preparation and Administration: Mix well, apply thickly, and change frequently until healed.
Another prescription:
Grind deer horn (Lujiaojiao) on a stone to obtain a concentrated juice. Apply to the carbuncle. Reapply when dry. It will gradually resolve with each application.
Another prescription:
Banxia powder (Pinelliae Rhizoma, 1 liang); Egg white (3 units).
Preparation and Administration: Mix and apply. It is highly effective.
Another prescription:
Mix Wuzhuyu powder (Evodiae Fructus) with vinegar, or pound fresh ginger (Shengjiang) or small garlic (Xiaosuan) and apply. Both are beneficial.
The Foot-Yangming Stomach meridian descends from Quepen (ST12) to the breast. If the meridian is deficient, wind-cold pathogens may invade. Cold congeals the blood, leading to the formation of nodules (Hejie).
For women developing nodules in the breast that are hard, swollen, and painful, use Xiaodu Zhong Zhi Tongtong Shui Gao (Detoxifying, Swelling-Reducing, and Pain-Stopping Water Paste).
Ingredients: Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, 2 liang, sliced); Lubifengfang (Apiis Ceranae Nidus, 0.5 liang, lightly roasted); Nuomi (Glutinous Rice, 2 he); Chixiaodou (Adzuki Bean, 1 he); Yan (Salt, 1 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Pulverize the ingredients and sieve into a fine powder. Extract juice from fresh Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix), adjust to the appropriate viscosity. Cut a piece of raw silk according to the size of the swollen/painful area, spread the paste thickly on the silk, and apply.
For breast abscess/toxicity initially presenting as nodules, causing tissue resolution:
Ingredients: Chuan Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, 1 liang); Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, 1 liang); Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, 1 liang, mustaches removed); Huangyao (likely referring to a specific herb, possibly incomplete text, retained as Huangyao); Dilong (Pheretima, 1 liang, fried until yellow); Ruxiang (Olibanum, dosage missing in source).
Preparation and Administration: Pulverize and sieve into a fine powder. Mix with Dihuang juice to form a uniform paste. Apply to the swollen and toxic area. Change when dry. Healing typically occurs within three to five applications.
For breast nodules accompanied by pain, aiming to disperse toxicity and relieve pain, use Danggui San (Angelica Powder).
Ingredients: Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 3 fen, sliced and lightly fried); Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 1 liang, sliced); Chuan Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas, 1 liang); Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, 3 fen, mustaches removed); Huangyao (3 fen); Chuan [Incomplete Text].
Preparation and Administration: Pulverize and sieve into a fine powder. Mix with egg white to form a paste. Spread on raw silk and apply. Continue until effective.
For breast nodules accompanied by swelling and pain, use the following external paste:
Ingredients: Yancao Gen (Root of Salicornia herbacea or similar saline plant, 2 liang); Sheng [Incomplete Text] Tou (Head of [Ginger/Garlic], 2 liang). *Note: Source text has a gap between 'Sheng' and 'Tou'. Context suggests Ginger Head or Garlic Head.*
Preparation and Administration: Pound into a mud-like consistency and apply. Immediate relief is expected.
