Cold hernia with heart pain arises from the accumulation and knotting of Yin Qi (Yin energy). When Yin Qi fails to dissipate, Cold pathogen becomes excessive; when Cold is excessive, pain ensues. The pain moves up and down without fixed location, caused by Cold Qi.

For treating cold hernia causing heart pain, chest oppression, and even syncope, Muxiang San (Costus Root Powder) is suitable.
Muxiang (Costi Radix, 1 liang), Gaoliangjiang (Alpiniae Officinarum Rhizoma, 0.5 liang, crushed), Chishao Yao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra, 0.5 liang), Chi Fuling (Poria with Red Hosta Root, 0.5 liang), Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma, 3 fen), Gan Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, 0.5 liang, processed), Houpo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex, 3 fen, coarse skin removed).
The above herbs are coarsely ground and sieved to make a powder. Each dose consists of 3 qian, decocted in one zhong of water with 0.5 fen of fresh ginger until reduced to 0.6 zhong. Strain and take at any time.

For treating cold hernia with heart pain, as well as abdominal distension and oppression due to various deficiencies and Cold Qi, Danggui San (Angelica Sinensis Powder) is suitable.
Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 1 liang, crushed and lightly stir-fried), Gan Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, 1 liang, processed and crushed), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 0.5 liang, honey-fried to light red and crushed), Chishao Yao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra, 1 liang), Huangqi (Astragali Membranacei Radix, 1 liang), Banxia (Pinelliae Tuber, 1 liang, washed seven times in water to remove slipperiness), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, 1 liang, processed, skin and sprout removed).
The above herbs are ground and sieved to make a powder. Each dose consists of 3 qian, decocted in one zhong of water with half a portion of fresh ginger until reduced to 0.6 zhong. Strain and take at any time.

Formula for treating cold hernia where heart pain feels like stabbing, pain surrounds the entire abdomen, cold sweat appears, and breath is faint and nearly exhausted.
Chuanjiao (Sichuan Pepper, 1 fen, eyes and closed-mouth ones removed, lightly stir-fried to remove moisture), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, 1 liang, processed, skin and sprout removed), Gan Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, 0.5 liang, processed and crushed), Banxia (Pinelliae Tuber, 0.5 liang, washed seven times in water to remove slipperiness).
The above herbs are ground and sieved to make a powder. Each dose consists of 3 qian, decocted in one zhong of water with 0.5 fen of japonica rice, 0.5 fen of fresh ginger, and three jujubes until reduced to 0.6 zhong.

For treating cold hernia with heart pain, cold limbs, and anorexia, this formula is suitable.
Peng'ezhu (Curcumae Zedoariae Rhizoma, 1 liang), Hujiao (Piperis Longi Fructus, 0.5 liang), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, 1 liang, processed, skin and sprout removed), Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma, 3 fen), Guixin (Cinnamomi Ramulus, 1 liang), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, 3 liang).
The above herbs are finely ground and sieved to make a powder. Take 1 qian mixed with hot wine at any time.

Another formula.
Gaoliangjiang (Alpiniae Officinarum Rhizoma, 1 liang, crushed), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 1 liang, crushed and lightly stir-fried), Guixin (Cinnamomi Ramulus).
The above herbs are finely ground and sieved to make a powder. Take 1 qian mixed with hot wine at any time.

Another formula.
Guixin (Cinnamomi Ramulus, 2 liang).
