Pediatric wind-stroke is caused by insufficient qi and blood, and tender, weak skin and muscles. If nursing is improper, and cold and warmth are not regulated appropriately, the couli (skin pores and interstices) become open and deficient, allowing wind pathogen to invade the body.
For treating pediatric wind-stroke with symptoms of tendon vessel spasm and stiffness, neck rigidity, hardness of the waist and back, convulsions of hands and feet, and irregular paroxysms, use Lingyangjiao San (Antelope Horn Powder).
Lingyangjiao Xie (Antelope Horn Shavings), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, remove the root head), Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba, remove roots and nodes), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Guixin (Cinnamomi Cortex), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried until slightly red and chopped; each 0.5 liang above).
Crush the above medicines into a coarse powder. Take one qian per dose, decoct in one small cup of water until reduced to five fen, filter out the dregs, add Zhuli (Bambusae Sap), boil for one or two more boils, and take warm. Adjust dosage according to the child's age and size, administer frequently. Efficacy is indicated by sweating.
For treating pediatric acute wind-stroke with symptoms of convulsions of both mouth and eyes, rigidity of the waist and back, and spasticity of hands and feet, use Niuhuang San (Calculus Bovis Powder).
Niuhuang (Calculus Bovis, 1 fen, finely ground), Shexiang (Moschus, 1 qian, finely ground), Nifen (Calomel, 1 qian, ground and mixed), Tiannanxing (Arisaematis Rhizoma, 1 fen, raw use), Sangpiaoxiao (Mantis Ootheca, 3 fen, lightly stir-fried).
Grind the above medicines into a fine powder and mix thoroughly. For each dose, mix with warm wine to administer a "yi zi" amount (approx. 0.5-1g), adjusting according to the child's age and size as appropriate.
For treating pediatric wind-stroke with symptoms of spasticity of four limbs, mental restlessness and confusion, and rigidity of the waist and back, use Tiannanxing Wan (Arisaematis Pill).
Tiannanxing (Arisaematis Rhizoma, 1 fen, processed/cracked), Nifen (Calomel, 1 fen, ground and mixed), Baifuzi (Typhonii Rhizoma, 0.5 liang, processed/cracked), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, 0.5 liang, washed seven times in hot water to remove slipperiness), Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba, 0.5 liang, remove roots and nodes), Huaizi (Sophorae Fructus, 0.5 fen, finely ground).
Grind the above medicines into powder, add the already-ground medicines, and mix thoroughly. Use one large cup of vinegar, add half of the medicine powder, and simmer over slow fire until it becomes a paste.
For treating pediatric wind-stroke with symptoms of deviation of mouth and eyes, spasm of tendon vessels, and diseases acquired in utero, use Zhusha Wan (Cinnabar Pill).
Zhusha (Cinnabar, 0.5 liang, finely ground and water-flotation purified), Niuhuang (Calculus Bovis, finely ground), Shexiang (Moschus, finely ground), Ganxie (Dry Scorpion, lightly stir-fried), Tianma (Gastrodiae Rhizoma), Baifuzi (Typhonii Rhizoma), Baijiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus, lightly stir-fried).
Grind the above medicines into powder, add the already-ground medicines, and mix evenly. Mix with soft glutinous rice flour to form pills the size of millet seeds. For each dose, dissolve three pills in breast milk and administer.
For treating pediatric wind-stroke with symptoms of convulsions of hands and feet, and infantile convulsion (Jing Feng), use Niuhuang Wan (Calculus Bovis Pill).
Niuhuang (Calculus Bovis, 1 fen, finely ground), Ganxie (Dry Scorpion, 1 fen, lightly stir-fried), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, 1 fen, remove root head), Xijiao Xie (Rhinocerotis Cornu Shavings, 0.5 liang), Shexiang (Moschus, 1 fen, finely ground), Shero (Snake Meat, 0.5 liang, roasted until scorched).
Grind the above medicines into powder, add the already-ground medicines, and mix evenly. Mix with refined honey to form pills the size of mung beans. For each dose, grind three pills in warm mint-infused wine and administer.
For treating pediatric wind-stroke with symptoms of traction and urgency of mouth and eyes, use Zhusha Wan (Cinnabar Pill).
Zhusha (Cinnabar, 0.5 liang, finely ground and water-flotation purified), Quanxie (Scorpio, 0.5 liang, remove legs and lightly stir-fried), Baijiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus, 0.5 liang, lightly stir-fried), Tiannanxing (Arisaematis Rhizoma, 0.5 liang, processed/cracked).
Grind the above medicines into powder, mix with wheat paste to form pills the size of mung beans. Administer one pill per year of age, using mint infusion to wash down.

Grind the above medicines into a fine powder. For each dose, mix with mint-infused wine to administer a "yi zi" amount, adjusting according to the child's age and size.
For newborns with tender skin and muscles prone to wind invasion, presenting with high fever or sudden wind-stroke with convulsive jerking of hands and feet, use Mosheng Gancao Gao (Fresh Licorice Massage Paste).
