Pediatric Dai Zhi disease refers to a condition where the fingers first swell, presenting with burning pain, while the skin color remains not dark. Subsequently, pus forms under the nail; in severe cases, the nail may detach. This condition is also known as "Zhao Jia" (Nail) disease.
Formula for treating pediatric Dai Zhi with swelling and pain:
Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba, 3 liang).
Crush the herb, add two bowls of water, and decoct until one bowl remains. Soak the affected finger in the warm liquid, repeating this more than ten times daily until recovery.
Formula for treating pediatric Dai Zhi with reverse swelling:
Mix miscellaneous hair with yellow earth to form a paste. Apply it to the finger to a thickness of five fen. Place the finger in warm ashes to heat it slightly, ensuring it is tolerable. Replace the paste once it dries.
Another formula:
Mix pig fat (Zhizhi) with Qu (fermented grain mass), grind into a paste, and apply to the lesion. Change frequently.
Another formula:
Take the kernels from plum pits, cook them thoroughly, and crush them well. Mix with pure sour vinegar (Ku Jiu) and apply to the lesion. Discontinue when healed.
Another formula:
Take Liang Mi flour (flour from foxtail millet), stir-fry in an iron pan until reddish. Mix with saliva from multiple people, apply to the lesion to a thickness of one cun, and it will subside.
Another formula:
Mix urine with salt to form a paste. Wrap the lesion thickly and change frequently until healed. For optimal results, puncture with a needle to allow bleeding.
Pediatric skin is tender and weak. In winter, due to dryness and exposure to wind-cold, the muscles and skin of the hands and feet crack, hence termed "Jun Lie" (Fissures/Cheilitis-like cracking).
Formula for treating pediatric frostbite-induced cracking and fissures with impending detachment:
Chuanjiao (Sichuan Pepper Fruit), Xiongqiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Ganjiang (Dried Ginger).
Crush the above herbs, add one large cup of water, and decoct until concentrated. Strain the dregs. Apply while slightly warm multiple times.
Formula for treating pediatric finger frostbite with fissures, swelling, pain, and impending detachment:
Wu Fen (Crow Droppings, 10 units).
Add three sheng of water, boil, and soak the fingers according to temperature comfort. Reheat if cooled. Recovery should occur within half a day.
Formula for treating pediatric hand/fissure cracking, swelling, pain, and bleeding after immersion in water:
Use fresh Huma (Sesame Seed), crush thoroughly, and apply.
Another formula:
Zhu Ti (Pig Trotter, one piece, finely cut).
Soak in one cup of hot wine overnight. Wash the area each time before use.
Another formula:
Boil dates to extract the flesh, crush finely, and apply. After one night, wash with Licorice Decoction (Gancao Tang) to achieve healing.
