Hematochezia (blood in stool) in children occurs because the Heart governs the blood vessels. When there is heat in the Heart, this pathogenic heat affects the blood. Upon being heated, the nature of the blood changes, causing it to flow chaotically and act recklessly, no longer following its normal course.
For treating hematochezia in children accompanied by body heat, sallow emaciation, and anorexia, use Lingyangjiao San (Antelope Horn Powder).
Lingyangjiao Xie (Antelope Horn Shavings), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, crushed), Chuan Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Diyü (Sanguisorbae Radix, crushed), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried until slightly red and crushed; each 1 fen), Sheng Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix, fresh-dried; quantity unspecified, typically equal parts or appropriate amount).
Crush the above ingredients and sieve them coarsely to make a powder. Take 1 qian per dose. Add 0.5 fen of Kuzhuru (Bambusae Caulis in Taenia) to one small cup of water, decoct until reduced to 0.6 cup, strain, and take at any time.
For treating hematochezia in children accompanied by abdominal pain, sallow emaciation, and anorexia, use Huaihua San (Sophorae Flos Powder).
Huaihua (Sophorae Flos, lightly stir-fried), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Shu Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma; each 0.5 fen), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, crushed), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, crushed and lightly stir-fried), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma).
Crush the above ingredients and sieve them coarsely to make a powder. Take 1 qian per dose. Add one small cup of water, decoct until reduced to 0.6 cup, strain, and take at any time. Divide the dose according to the child's age.
For treating persistent hematochezia in children accompanied by sallow complexion, muscular emaciation, occasional abdominal pain, and anorexia, use Juanbai Wan (Selaginellae Herba Pill).
Juanbai (Selaginellae Herba, 0.5 liang), Chishizhi (Halloysit Rubrum, 0.5 liang), Ejiao (Asini Corii Colla, 0.5 liang, crushed and fried until yellow and dry), Huaihua (Sophorae Flos, lightly stir-fried), Huangniu Jiaojiao (Bovis Cornu, honey-fried until yellow and charred).
Pulverize the above ingredients into fine powder, mix with refined honey to form pills the size of hemp seeds. For a three-year-old child, administer seven pills per dose with millet gruel, three times daily. Adjust dosage according to the child's age.

Biejia (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum, one piece, coated with vinegar and fried until yellow and charred, remove the skirt edge).
