Pediatric enuresis is caused by heat in the zang-fu organs. Excessive consumption of cold-natured medicines damages the lower jiao (lower burner), resulting in coldness in the bladder, which loses its ability to control water metabolism.
In treating pediatric enuresis, one should not forcibly suppress it; instead, use the Ji San Formula.
Ji (one whole chicken, roasted until yellow) Huangqi (Astragali Radix, half liang, sliced) Sangpiaoxiao (Mantis Egg Case, three qian, lightly stir-fried) Muli (Ostreae Concha, half liang, calcined into powder) Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, one qian, honey-fried)
Crush the above ingredients into a coarse powder. Take one qian per dose. Add one small cup of water, decoct until reduced to six-tenths, strain, and administer warm in divided doses according to the child's age and condition.
For pediatric enuresis accompanied by emaciation, irritability, and anorexia, use the Muli San Formula.
Muli Fen (Ostreae Concha Powder, three qian) Longgu (Fossilia Ossis Mastodi, three qian) Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix, half liang, core removed, baked) Huangqi (Astragali Radix, half liang, sliced) Jichangcao (Polygonati Odorati Rhizoma, half liang) Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, half liang) Fuling (Poria, half liang) Sangpiaoxiao (Mantis Egg Case, three qian, lightly stir-fried) Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, one qian, fried until slightly red, sliced)
Crush the above ingredients into a coarse powder. Take one qian per dose. Add one small cup of water, a few slices of Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), and two dates. Decoct until reduced to six-tenths, strain, and administer warm in divided doses according to the child's condition.
For pediatric enuresis with cold feet, use the Baizhu San Formula.
Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, half liang) Tugua Gen (Coccini Indicae Radix, half liang) Muli Fen (Ostreae Concha Powder, three qian)
For pediatric enuresis, use this formula.
Yangdu Xi (Sheep abomasum, one strip, thoroughly washed)
Fill with water, tightly tie both ends, and boil until cooked. Remove, cut open, collect the broth, and feed slowly to the child.
Another prescription.
Ji (One whole chicken, including intestines, sun-dried and roasted until charred. Use hen for male children, rooster for female children.)
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. For each dose, mix half a qian with warm wine. Adjust the dosage according to the child's age and condition.
Another prescription.
Yangpao (Sheep urinary bladder, one piece)
Boil in water until soft and well-cooked. Consume on an empty stomach in divided doses appropriate for the child's age. The condition will likely resolve within three doses.
