When infants present with red, scanty, and obstructed urination, it is due to heat in both the Bladder (Pang Guang) and Kidney (Shen). The Kidney governs water metabolism, while the Bladder is the fu-organ responsible for storing body fluids. These two meridians have an exterior-interior relationship.
To treat infantile internal stagnation of heat causing red, scanty, and obstructed urination, accompanied by unbearable astringent pain in the urinary tract, use Ziqin San (Scutellaria Powder).
Ingredients: Ziqin (Radix Scutellariae), Dongkui Zi (Semen Malvae), Cheqian Zi (Semen Plantaginis), Maogen (Rhizoma Imperatae) (each one liang, coarsely crushed), Huashi (Talcum) (two liang).
Crush the above ingredients into a coarse powder. Take one qian per dose. Add one small cup of water, decoct until reduced to six-tenths of the original volume, strain, and remove the dregs. Administer at any time, adjusting the dosage according to the child's age and size.
To treat infantile organ stagnation of heat causing mental restlessness and irritability, along with red, scanty, and obstructed urination, use Daqing San (Cyan Powder).
Ingredients: Daqing (Indigo Naturalis), Chuan Shengma (Rhizoma Cimicifugae), Qumai (Herba Polygoni Avicularis), Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae) (honey-fried until slightly red and crushed, each half liang), Chuan Dahuang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei) (three fen, crushed and lightly stir-fried), Chun Puxiao (Natrii Sulfas) (dosage omitted in source text).
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. At any time, mix half a qian with warm water for administration. Adjust the dosage up or down based on the child's age and size.
To treat infantile heart heat causing irritability and restlessness, along with red, scanty, and obstructed urination, use Zhusha San (Cinnabar Powder).
Ingredients: Zhusha (Cinnabar) (finely ground), Qianshuang (Plumbum Nitricum) (finely ground), Xijiao Xie (Hornis Rhinocerotis) (shavings), Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae), Cheqian Zi (Semen Plantaginis), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae) (honey-fried until slightly red and crushed, each one fen), Huashi (Talcum) (dosage omitted in source text).
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder, mixing in the pre-ground ingredients evenly. At any time, decoct Ku Zhu Ye Tang (Bitter Bamboo Leaf Decoction) and mix with half a qian of the powder for administration. Adjust according to the child's age and size.

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. At any time, decoct Cong Bai Deng Xin Tang (Scallion White and Juncus Effusus Decoction) and mix with half a qian of the powder for administration. Adjust the dosage based on the child's age and size.

To treat extreme infantile heat causing red, scanty, and obstructed urination, loud crying during urination, and pain in the urinary tract, use Huashi San (Talcum Powder).
