Pediatric nang dysentery arises from frequent exposure to sudden cold qi in the mornings during summer and autumn. The cold qi obstructs the four limbs, preventing the release of internal heat. When this heat qi enters the abdomen, it transforms into dysentery. Stools may appear red or white, accompanied by distension and pain in the lower abdomen, and high fever. The pulse is surging (Hong), rapid, and urgent. These conditions result from the binding of cold and heat qi, leading to chronic persistence without recovery.
Therefore, for treating persistent pediatric nang dysentery with abdominal pain: Rou Dou Kou San Formula.
Ingredients: Myristicae Semen (Rou Dou Kou) (1 fen, shell removed); Zingiberis Rhizoma Preparatum (Gan Jiang) (1 fen, processed until cracked and sliced); Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex (Nong Pu) (1 fen, outer bark removed, brushed with fresh ginger juice, roasted until fragrant and cooked); Cinnabaris (Zhu Sha) (1 fen, finely ground); Os Draconis (Long Gu) (1 fen); Terminaliae Chebulae Fructus (He Li Le) (1 fen, roasted, using the peel); Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma (Mao Xiang) (1 fen, sliced); Aurantii Fructus Immaturus (Zhi Ke) (1 fen, bran-fried).
