Pediatric white baldness tinea (Xia'er Bai Tu Chuang) is characterized by white patches and desquamation on the scalp. Initially resembling tinea (fungal infection), it presents with white scales. Over time, crusts form into sores, eventually spreading across the entire head.
According to the *Jiu Chong Lun* (Treatise on Nine Parasites), this condition arises from the activity of Enterobius vermicularis (pinworms). It persists from childhood to adulthood without healing, leading to hair loss, hence the name "white baldness tinea."
**Saponaria Dispersion Formula for Pediatric White Baldness Tinea that Recurs after Healing:**
- Gleditsiae Fructus Carbonis (Gao Jiao Tan): 2 pods, carbonized
- Scutellariae Radix (Huang Qin): 2 fen
- Cinnabar (Zhu Sha): 1 fen, finely ground
- Moschus (She Xiang): 1 fen, finely ground
- Minium (Huang Dan): 2 fen
Pulverize the above ingredients and sieve them into a fine powder. Mix with strong vinegar to form a paste for topical application. For severe cases, healing occurs within no more than three applications.
**Pinus Rosin Ointment Formula for Pediatric White Baldness Tinea and Various Tineas:**
- Pinus Rosin (Song Zhi): 0.5 liang
- Arisaema Rhizoma (Tian Nan Xing): 1 fen
- Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata (Chuan Wu Tou): 1 fen, skin and embryo removed
- Calomelas (Ni Fen): 1 fen
- Armeniacae Semen Amarum (Xing Ren): 1 liang, soaked in hot water, skin removed, separately ground
Pulverize and sieve the above ingredients. Melt beeswax and sesame oil in a porcelain vessel over low heat. Add the powdered herbs, stir uniformly, and simmer until an ointment consistency is achieved.

- Myrobalan Terminalia Chebula (Wu Yi): 1 fen
- Fermented Soybean (Dou Chi): 1 fen
- Sichuan Pepper (Chuan Jiao): 20 grains, eyes removed
Pulverize into a paste. Mix with aged soy sauce for topical application.
**Formula for Pediatric White Baldness Tinea with Persistent Pain and Itching:**
- Root Bark of Red Mulberry (Chi Sang Gen): 1 liang
- Peach Blossom (Tao Hua): 1 liang, collected on the third day of the third lunar month (unopened buds), dried in shade
Pulverize and sieve into a fine powder. Mix with lard rendered in the twelfth lunar month to form a膏 (ointment). Before each use, wash the area thoroughly with ash water from mulberry wood branches, dry, and apply. Healing follows.

- Young Willow Branches (Xi Liu Zhi): 1 handful
- Mercury (Shui Yin): 0.5 liang, triturated with saliva until granules disappear
- Gleditsiae Fructus (Gao Jiao): 1 pod, skin and seeds removed
Finely chop the herbs. Decoct in 1 sheng of vinegar until concentrated. Strain and further reduce to a paste. Add mercury and mix uniformly. Store in a porcelain container. Apply twice daily.
**Wild Ginger Ointment Formula for Pediatric White Baldness Tinea with Bloody Discharge, Bitterness, and Severe Itching:**
- Polygoni Multiflori Caulis (Ye Ge): 1 liang, powdered
- Porcine Fat (Zhu Zhi): 1 liang
- Ovine Fat (Yang Zhi): 1 liang
Simmer together for three to five boiling periods. Stir uniformly, strain, and store in a porcelain vessel. Apply when cool. Healing occurs within no more than three applications.
**Black Bean Drip Formula for Pediatric White Baldness Tinea and Gan Syndrome, where Hair Falls Out by the Root and Fails to Regrow:**
- Black Soybean (Hei Dou): 3 he

**Phellodendron Dispersion Formula for Pediatric White Baldness Tinea with Hair Loss, Pain, and Itching:**
- Phellodendri Cortex (Huang Bo): 1 liang, powdered
- Frankincense (Xun Lu Xiang / Ru Xiang): 1 liang
Finely grind. Mix with raw sesame oil to a suitable viscosity. Apply; reapply when dry. Healing occurs within four to five applications.
**Formula for Pediatric White Baldness Tinea where Hair Fails to Regrow:**
Take Radish Seeds (Man Jing Zi) and Prepared Aconite Root (Chuan Wu Tou) in equal proportions. Carbonize, grind finely, and mix with raw oil for topical application.
**Formula for Pediatric White Baldness Tinea with No Hair Regrowth, Exudative or Dry Sores, and Pain:**
Take seven chicken eggs. Use only the yolks. Cook rapidly in a copper vessel until dry. Grind finely and apply as a poultice.
**Formula for Chronic Pediatric White Baldness Tinea:**
Take one crucian carp weighing 4 liang. Remove guts, fill with loose hair. Wrap in wet paper and burn to ash. Grind finely. Add 2 qian of Realgar Powder (Xiong Huang) and mix.
**Formula for Pediatric White Baldness Tinea:**
Take Eastern-facing Chinaberry Tree Branches (Dong Yin Lian Shu). Chop, pulverize, and sieve. Mix with lard for topical application.
