Shijue (Corpse-like Trance) is a condition caused by the reversal of Yin and Yang Qi. This arises from the sudden sinking of Yang meridians and the sudden ascent of Yin meridians, making it difficult for Yin and Yang to maintain their proper positions, resulting in the obstruction of Ying and Wei (Nutritive and Defensive) Qi, and the chaotic rebellion of Zhen Qi (True Qi).
Treatment for Shijue: The patient has a pulsating pulse but no breath, with Qi closure and obstruction, causing the body to remain still as if dead. If one hears a whistling sound in the ears and feels warmth in the inner thighs, this confirms the diagnosis of Shijue.
[Formula] Zhusha San (Cinnabar Powder) [Provisional Name]
Ingredients: Zhusha (Cinnabar, 3 fen, finely ground), Xionghuang (Realgar, 3 fen, finely ground), Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Lateral Root, 3 fen, processed until cracked, skin and umbilicus removed), Guixin (Cinnamon Twig Heart, 1 liang 5 qian; some versions record 1 liang), Badou (Croton Seed, 2 seeds, skin and heart removed, pressed on paper to remove oil).
Preparation: Pound and sieve the above herbs into powder. Mix thoroughly with the already ground ingredients. Blend with refined honey to form pills the size of hemp seeds.
Administration: Take five pills at any time, washed down with rice broth. If there is no diarrhea, administer two more pills. If diarrhea becomes excessive, stop administration.
Fanhun Dan (Reviving Soul Pill) for treating Shijue accompanied by aphasia:
Ingredients: Sheng Daimao (Raw Hippopotamus Tooth, 1 fen), Zhusha (Cinnabar, 1 fen), Xionghuang (Realgar, 2 fen), Baijiezhi (White Mustard Seed, 1 fen), Shexiang (Musk, 1 qian).
Preparation: Grind all ingredients together into a fine powder. Melt Anxi Xiang (Benzoin Resin) in a porcelain vessel and mix with the powder to form pills the size of mung beans.
Administration: For cases of muteness due to fright or poisoning, take five pills at any time, washed down with urine. For "Nuclear Wind-Heat" (a specific acute syndrome), only one pill is required.
Formula for treating sudden death due to Zhong'e (Evil Invasion):
Ingredients: Changpu (Acorus Rhizome, 2 liang).
Usage: Pound and sieve into a fine powder. Place half a qian of the powder under the tongue. Also blow the powder into both nostrils, the lower orifice (genital area), and both ears. The patient will revive.
