Shizhu (Corpse Transmission Disease) refers to the pathogenic factors of Shizhu within the five zang organs, accompanied by external toxic qi from "ghostly" pathogens. This qi flows and accumulates in the body, causing alternating chills and fever with lingering symptoms, a depressed and silent demeanor, and an inability to pinpoint the specific source of suffering. Alternatively, it may present as abdominal pain and distension, shortness of breath, rebellious qi rushing up to the chest and heart, attacking both hypochondriac regions; or manifest as protruding masses, or pulling pain in the lower back and spine; or ultimately lead to death.
To treat Shizhu, and cases where malignant qi invades the person causing chest fullness, oppression, mental confusion, and coma, it is appropriate to use this formula to induce vomiting. Durang San (Duheng Powder):
Durang (1 liang) | Shi (Fermented Soybean Paste, 1 liang) | Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, 0.5 liang, remove radicle) | Songluo (Herba Siegesbeckiae, 1 fen) | Huziren (Semen Cucurbitae Pepo, 14 pieces) | Chixiaodou (Semen Phaseoli Rubri, 14 pieces, stir-fried until cooked)
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder through a silk sieve. In the morning before dawn, mix one qian with warm wine and take orally. It is ideal if copious vomiting occurs.
To treat Shizhu, where ghostly toxic vapors flow into the body causing alternating chills and fever with lingering symptoms, abdominal pain and distension, and mental derangement, Zhusha Wan (Cinnabar Pill):
Zhusha (Cinnabaris, 1 liang, finely ground and processed by water flotation) | Xionghuang (Realgar, 1 liang, finely ground and processed by water flotation) | Guijiu (Rhizoma Acori Tatarinowii, 0.5 liang, remove roots) | Mangcao (Herba Dichroae, 0.5 liang, lightly roasted) | Badou (Semen Crotonis, 14 pieces, remove skin and core, grind and press between papers to remove oil) | Wugong (Scolopendra, 1 piece, lightly roasted, remove feet)
Grind the above ingredients into powder, mix thoroughly with the previously ground medicines. Combine with refined honey to form pills the size of small beans. Take three pills each time, at any time, washed down with warm wine.
To treat Shizhu that attacks without fixed timing, causing chest and heart pain, and rapid breathing, Chifuling San (Red Poria Powder):
Chifuling (Poria Cum Lignum, 3 fen) | Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, 0.5 liang, sliced and lightly stir-fried) | Chishao (Radix Paeoniae Rubra, 0.5 liang) | Guijianyu (Ramulus Eucommiae Ulmoidis, 3 fen) | Guixin (Cortex Cinnamomi, 3 fen) | Shenggan Dihuang (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata, 3 fen, stir-baked with bran until slightly yellow)
Grind the above ingredients into a coarse powder. Take 3 qian each time, decoct with one zhong of water until reduced to 0.5 zhong, strain, and take warm.
To treat Shizhu where evil qi flows and accumulates causing fainting and sudden collapse, recurring frequently with alternating chills and fever, or abdominal pain and distension, Hegu Wan (Crane Bone Pill):
Hegu (Os Crane, 1 fen, coated with butter and roasted until slightly yellow) | Guixin (Cortex Cinnamomi, 3 fen) | Xionghuang (Realgar, 1 liang, finely ground and processed by water flotation) | Shexiang (Moschus, 0.5 liang, finely ground) | Zhusha (Cinnabaris, 1 fen, finely ground) | Chuan Dahuang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei, 3 fen, sliced and lightly stir-fried) | Wugong (Scolopendra, 1 fen, lightly roasted)
Grind the above ingredients into powder. Knead with refined honey for 300-500 strikes. Form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take twenty pills each time, at any time, washed down with decoction of peach branches.
To treat Shizhu presenting with chills and fever, loss of appetite, and stabbing pain in the heart and abdomen, it is appropriate to take Huzhang Wan (Tiger Palm Pill):
Huzhang (Rhizoma Pinelliae, 0.5 liang, washed seven times in boiling water, sliced, mixed with ginger juice and stir-fried until dry) | Chifuling (Poria Cum Lignum, 1 liang) | Longchi (Os Dentis Mammoth, 1 liang, finely ground) | Zhusha (Cinnabaris, 0.5 liang, finely ground) | Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, 3 fen, sliced and lightly stir-fried) |awei (Resina Asafetidae, 1 liang) | Peng'ezhu (Rhizoma Curcumae Phaeocaulis, 3 fen)
Grind the above ingredients into powder. Decoct Awei in wine until it forms a paste, then knead with the powder for over 100 strikes. Form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take twenty pills each time, at any time, washed down with decoction of ginger and Chinese plum.
To treat Shizhu malignant qi causing chills, fever, and fainting, it is appropriate to use this formula:
Guanquepi (Cortex Ardeae, 3 cun square, roasted until scorched yellow) | Guixin (Cortex Cinnamomi, 3 cun) | Mengchong (Tabanus, 14 pieces, stir-fried until slightly yellow) | Banmao (Mylabris, 14 pieces, stir-fried with glutinous rice until slightly yellow, remove wings and feet) | Badou (Semen Crotonis, 30 pieces, remove skin and core, grind and press between papers to remove oil)
Grind the above ingredients into powder. Knead with refined honey for 200-300 strikes. Form pills the size of small beans. Take three pills daily on an empty stomach, washed down with gruel drink.
Another prescription:
Luanshui Hui (Ash of Human Hair, 0.5 liang) | Xingren (Semen Armeniacae Amarum, 0.5 liang, soaked in water, remove skin and pointed ends, use double-kernel ones)
Grind the above ingredients into a paste-like consistency. Mix with a small amount of refined honey to form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take five pills each time, at any time, washed down with warm wine. Take three to four times daily.
Another prescription:
Taoren (Semen Persicae, 50 pieces, soaked in water, remove skin and pointed ends, use double-kernel ones, grind)
Decoct the above in 1.5 zhong of water until reduced to 1 zhong. Divide into three warm doses. Vomiting after administration indicates efficacy; if no vomiting occurs, it is not Shizhu disease.
To treat individuals who have been close to corpses, allowing malignant qi to enter the abdomen, resulting in lifelong incurable conditions beyond medical treatment, it is appropriate to use this formula:
Awei (Resina Asafetidae, 3 liang, finely ground)
Take 1 fen of the above medicine each time, make into dumpling fillings for more than ten dumplings. Boil and eat them. Take twice daily. After seven days, complete cure is achieved.
