Fengshi (Wind Corpse Disease) is located in the four limbs of the human body, circulating through the meridians and collaterals. Its presentation involves fluctuating symptoms that come and go intermittently; the patient feels heavy and taciturn, unable to pinpoint the exact location of pain. It manifests upon exposure to wind pathogens, hence the name Fengshi.
For treating Fengshi, as well as Zhong'e (sudden evil invasion), Zeifeng (thief wind/sudden strong wind), abdominal pain caused by cold qi entering the abdomen, Feishi (Flying Corpse), Dunshi (Lurking Corpse)—conditions that occur at unpredictable times, with sensations of stabbing pain in the heart and hypochondrium as if pierced by a knife, and trismus (lockjaw)—the following prescription is suitable:
Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata, 1 liang, roasted until slightly red, chopped) Shenggandihuang (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata, 1 liang) Ganjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Preparatum, 1 liang, processed until cracked, chopped) Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, 1 liang, chopped and slightly stir-fried) Chifulingzi (Sclerotium Poriae Cocos, 15 pieces, text implies specific part or quantity)
Crush the above ingredients into a coarse powder. Take 4 qian per dose. Add one zhongzhan (unit of volume) of water, decoct until reduced to 6 fen (volume). Strain and remove the dregs. Take warm at any time.
For treating Fengshi, sudden Zeifeng, Dunshi, Wuzhu (Five Types of Transmission Diseases caused by evil spirits/pathogens), and stabbing pain in the heart and abdomen, the Chuan Dahuang San formula is suitable:
Chuan Dahuang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei, 1.5 liang, chopped and slightly stir-fried) Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata, 1 liang, roasted until slightly red, chopped) Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, 1.5 liang, chopped and slightly stir-fried) Chishao Yao (Radix Paeoniae Rubra, 1 liang) Chuan Wutou (Radix Aconiti Kusnezoffii, 1 liang, processed until cracked, skin and umbilicus removed) Guixin (Cortex Cinnamomi, 1 liang)
Crush and sieve the above ingredients into a powder. Take 4 qian per dose. Add one zhongzhan of water, half ban of fresh ginger, and half he of honey. Decoct until reduced to 6 fen. Strain and remove the dregs. Take warm at any time.
For treating Fengshi transmission diseases, Wuqi (counteracting qi), Guiqi (ghost qi), and stabbing pain in the heart and abdomen, use Jinya San:
Jinya (Aes Corvi, 1 fen, finely ground) Youba (likely a mineral or specific herb, 1 fen) Xijiao Xie (Cornu Rhinocerotis, 1 fen) Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae, 1 fen) Shexiang (Moschus, 1 fen, finely ground) Niuhuang (Calculus Bovis, 1 fen, finely ground) Chuanjiao (Fructus Zanthoxyli, 1 fen, finely ground) Guixin (Cortex Cinnamomi, 0.5 liang) Xixin (Herba Asari, 1 fen, remove roots) Wugong (Scolopendra, 1 piece, slightly roasted, remove legs)
For treating Fengshi, Feishi, Gui Zhu, Fengbi (Wind Bi syndrome), body pain like needle pricks, vomiting and counterflow qi, Tanpi (phlegm stasis), and for eliminating the ten thousand diseases caused by Five Exhaustions and Seven Injuries, use Chu Wulao Qishang Wanbing San:
Fuzi (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata, processed until cracked, skin and umbilicus removed) Chuan Wutou (Radix Aconiti Kusnezoffii, processed until cracked, skin and umbilicus removed) Zhusha (Cinnabaris, finely ground) Yanqing (Lytta, stir-fried with glutinous rice until yellow, remove wings and legs) Chuanjiao (Fructus Zanthoxyli, remove eyes) Xin Mangcao (likely Herba Pogostemonis or similar, lightly roasted) Guijiu (likely Radix Podophylli or similar, text incomplete)
Crush and sieve the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take half qian mixed with warm wine at any time.
