The so-called "evil flesh" (E Rou) refers to a sudden protrusion of tissue within the body, resembling a small bean. Its shape may be slender like the udder of cattle or horses, or resemble the comb of a chicken. It is neither itchy nor painful. If left untreated for a long time, it will continue to grow indefinitely. This condition arises from injury by pathogenic wind (Feng Xie) during spring and winter; the wind enters the muscle layer, causing blood stasis (Yu Xue) to accumulate and form the growth.
Formula for Treating Evil Flesh: Loulu San (Caulis Euphorbiae Humifusae Powder)
Loulu (Caulis Euphorbiae Humifusae, 0.5 liang), Bailian (Radix Puerariae Lobatae, 0.5 liang), Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae, 0.5 liang), Baiwei (Radix Cynanchi Atrati, 0.5 liang), Zhishi (Fructus Aurantii Immaturus, 0.5 liang, stir-fried with bran until slightly yellow), Chuan Shengma (Rhizoma Cimicifugae, 0.5 liang), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae, 0.5 liang, raw and cut), Chi Shaoyao (Radix Paeoniae Rubra, 0.5 liang), Chuan Dahuang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei, 0.5 liang, crushed and slightly stir-fried), Mahuang (Herba Ephedrae, 0.5 liang, roots and nodes removed).
Crush the above ingredients into a coarse powder. Take 2 or 3 qian per dose. Add one zhong zhan of water, decoct until five fen of water remains. Strain out the dregs. Take warm at any time.
Formula for Treating Stubborn Evil Flesh Not Healing:
Ru Cao (Radix Bupleuri? Note: Context suggests a caustic agent, likely referring to specific root used in ancient texts, here translated as Ru Grass/Powder, 0.5 liang, powdered), Baifan (Alumen, 3 fen, calcined until liquid is exhausted), Xionghuang (Realgar, 3 fen, finely ground).
Grind the above ingredients together into a fine powder. Apply externally to the evil flesh.
Formula for Corroding Evil Flesh: Disu San (Sulfur Powder)
Liuhuang (Sulfur, finely ground), Machixian (Herba Portulacae Oleraceae), Baifan (Alumen, calcined until liquid is exhausted), Ru Cao (0.5 liang each), Danshen (Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae, 0.5 liang).
Pound the above ingredients into a fine powder. Apply topically to the evil flesh.
Formula for Treating Long-standing Evil Flesh Not Healing: Dahuang Gao (Rhubarb Ointment)
Chuan Dahuang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei, 1 liang, raw), Fuzi (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata, 1 liang, raw, skin and navel removed), Xiong (Radix Chuanxiong, 1 liang), Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae, 2 liang), Bailian (Radix Puerariae Lobatae, 2 liang), Xionghuang (Realgar, 1 liang, finely ground), Zhenzhu Mo (Concha Margaritifera, 1 liang), Ru Cao (2 liang, separately pounded into powder), Baifan (Alumen, 2 liang, calcined until liquid is exhausted and finely ground).
Chop the first five ingredients including Dahuang. First, boil 1.5 jin of lard (Zhi) for more than ten boils. Filter out the dregs. Add the powders of Xionghuang, Zhenzhu Mo, Ru Cao, and Baifan. Stir until uniform. Apply to the evil flesh to dissolve it.
