Those with sudden edema of the body and face are also presenting signs of Water Disease (Shui Bing). This is caused by the deficiency of the Kidney and Spleen. The Kidney governs water; now, due to Kidney deficiency, water flows recklessly. The Spleen governs Earth (transformation and transportation); due to Spleen deficiency, it cannot control water, causing water to overflow and scatter into the skin, leading to sudden edema of the body and face.
