Damp tinea (Damp Tinea) presents with distinct margins and a sensation resembling insects crawling on the skin. The affected area is infiltrated, erythematous, moist, and pruritic; scratching leads to exudation and ulceration. This condition arises from the invasion and accumulation of wind-toxic qi in the skin, hence termed damp tinea. Parasites may even be generated within the lesion.
Formula for treating unbearable itching and pain caused by damp tinea: Liu Huang San (Sulfur Powder).
Ingredients: Liu Huang (Cinnabaris, Sulfur, 0.5 liang), Ban Mao (Mylabris, Blister Beetle, 0.5 liang, wings and feet removed), Long Nao (Borneolum Syntheticum, Borneol, 1 qian), Ni Fen (Calomelas, Mercurous Chloride, 1 fen).
Preparation and Administration: Grind all ingredients into a fine powder. Mix with Mian Zhi (Facial Fat/Cream) to form a paste. When itching and pain occur, scratch the affected area until broken, then apply the medicine by rubbing.
Another formula:
Ingredients: Wu Mei (Fructus Mume, Plum Fruit, 14 pieces, flesh only), Da Suan (Bulbus Allii Sativi, Garlic, 14 pieces, peeled), Liang Shang Chen (Dust from Roof Beams, 3 he), Yan (Sal, Salt, 3 he).
Preparation and Administration: Mix and thoroughly pound the ingredients. Soak in 1 sheng of strong vinegar overnight. Apply to the tinea lesions; it will heal.
