The branch meridian of the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine enters the gums and face. If wind-cold pathogenic factors transmit into this meridian, it causes the fluids in the teeth to transform into pus. When Qi and Blood are deficient and exhausted, failing to nourish the gums, it results in the exposure of tooth roots and the protrusion of teeth. These conditions are all caused by wind-heat pathogens. It is appropriate to take the Yuligenpi Wan (Dewberry Root Bark Pill) prescription.
Dewberry root white bark (2 liang), Shu Gan Dihuang (Prepared Rehmannia Root, 2 liang); Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root, de-radicle), Duhuo (Angelica Pubescens Root), Qingxiangzi (Celosia Seed, 1 liang each).
Crush and sieve the above herbs into powder. Mix with refined honey to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. After meals, swallow thirty pills with rice broth.
Treating exposed tooth roots and protruding teeth, all caused by wind-heat toxic qi. The pain is unbearable; this prescription is suitable.
Manjingzi (Vitex Fruit), Sangjisheng (Taxillus Branch), Dewberry root white bark (chopped), Sheng Gan Dihuang (Raw Prepared Rehmannia Root), Fangfeng (de-radicle, 2 liang each); Duhuo, Qingxiangzi, Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root, dosage unspecified in source).
Coarsely crush and sieve the above herbs into a powder. Take half a liang each time, decoct with two large bowls of water and one qian of salt until reduced to one bowl. Strain the dregs. Hold the liquid hot in the mouth and spit it out when cool.
Treating exposed gum tissue, accompanied by pus, blood, and bad breath, use the Gouqigen San (Goji Root Powder) prescription.
Gouqigen (Goji Root), Huai Baipi (Sophora Bark, 2 liang each); Hutonglei (Trogopterus Dung), Xixin (Asarum Root, 1 liang each); Chuanjiao (Sichuan Pepper, 1 fen, remove eyes and closed ones, lightly stir-fry to remove moisture).
Sieve the above herbs into a powder. Take half a liang each time, decoct with two large bowls of water until reduced to one bowl. Strain the dregs. Hold the liquid hot in the mouth and spit it out when cool.

Danggui (1 ban liang), Xixin (1 ban liang), Chuan Shengma (Cimicifuga Rhizome, 1 ban liang); Fangfeng (de-radicle), Gaoben (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Hort. Root), Mangcao (Artemisia Capillaris Herb), Xiong (Ligusticum Wallichii Rhizome, 1 fen each); Baiyangzhi (White Poplar Twig, 1 liang).
Sieve the above herbs into a powder. Take five qian each time, decoct with one large bowl of water until reduced to seven-tenths. Strain the dregs. Hold the liquid hot in the mouth and spit it out when cool.
Treating exposed and protruding tooth roots, all caused by accumulated wind-heat toxicity, use the Manjingzi San (Vitex Fruit Powder) prescription.
Manjingzi (1 liang), Sheng Gan Dihuang (1 liang), Digupi (Phellodendron Bark), Jiaohao (Achyranthes Bidentata Root or similar, 1 liang each); Yuligenpi (Dewberry Root Bark, 2 liang).
