Wind-Gan disease arises from the stagnation and obstruction of the Zang-Fu organs, with wind-heat pathogens accumulating over a long period. This leads to dysfunction of the Spleen and Lung, and phlegm-fluid retention in the Heart and Chest. Pathogenic toxic qi rushes upward and pours into the Upper Jiao (Upper Burner), repeatedly steaming and steaming the teeth. This causes swelling of the gingiva, loosening and shedding of teeth, decay and rotting of teeth, simultaneous discharge of pus and blood, worm erosion of tooth roots, constant foul odor in the mouth, bluish-yellow complexion, and swelling and pain of the lips and cheeks.
Formula for treating dental wind-Gan with pain, cheek swelling, putrid odor, and foul breath:
Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Lateral Root) [cracked by frying, skin and umbilicus removed], Caoshu (Grassleaf Seedbox Herb), Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Radix), Duhuo (Chinese Angelica Root), Xiongqiong (Szechwan Lovage Rhizome), Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root) [ligule removed], Xixin (Asarum Root), Li Shugenpi (Li Tree Root Bark) [each 0.5 liang].
The above herbs are finely chopped and mixed evenly. Take 0.5 liang per dose, add two large bowls of water, decoct until one bowl remains, strain off the dregs. Hold the hot liquid in the mouth and spit it out after cooling.
For treating dental wind-Gan with unremitting pain, this formula is suitable:
Li Shugen Baipi (White Bark of Li Tree Root), Liuzhi (Willow Twig) [each 2 liang], Chuanjiao (Sichuan Pepper) [eyes removed], Tanglizhi (Pyrus Betulifolia Twig), Yuliren (Prunus Humilis Seed), Huaizhi (Locust Tree Twig) [each 1 liang].
The above herbs are finely chopped and mixed evenly, divided into eight doses. Each dose is decocted with two bowls of water until one bowl remains, then strained. Hold the hot liquid in the mouth and spit it out after cooling.
Formula for treating dental wind-Gan where the root separates from the flesh, causing pain that prevents eating:
Gouqigen (Goji Root), Dongyin Huaizhi (East-facing Locust Tree Twig), Dongyin Liuzhi (East-facing Willow Twig) [each 3 liang], Heidou (Black Soybean) [0.5 sheng, fried hot, crushed, skin removed].
The above herbs are finely chopped, placed in a copper pot, and stir-fried over low heat until yellow. Add the fried black soybeans and mix. Decoct with three large bowls of water for more than ten boils, then [strain and use].

Xionghuang (Realgar) [finely ground], Shexiang (Musk) [finely ground], Xiongdan (Bear Bile), Tianxiong (Aconitum Carmichaelii Root) [raw, skin and umbilicus removed], Xixin (Asarum Root), Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Radix), Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Lateral Root) [raw, skin and umbilicus removed], Ganjiang (Dried Ginger) [...].
The above herbs are pounded into a fine powder through a silk sieve, mixed evenly. Wrap 1 qian of the powder in cotton, place it against the tooth root, and hold it. Do not swallow if saliva flows.
