Bai Bo Feng (Vitiligo) is caused by wind-pathogens of the Lung channel flowing and accumulating between the skin, persisting for a long time without resolving. It mostly occurs on the neck and face, presenting as scattered white patches, but without sores or ulcers.
Formula for treating Bai Bo on the face:
Bi Bo (Damask Cloth, 1 liang), Chan Tou (Cicada Head, 1 liang), Shao Zhou (Tall Buckwheat Broom, 1 liang), Zeng Dai (Steamer Strap, 1 liang), Fu Cu (Meat Vinegar, 1 liang), Gu Ma Xie Di (Old Hemp Shoe Sole, 1 liang), She Tui (Snake Slough).
The above herbs are burned together on the night of a lunar eclipse, during the peak of the eclipse, ground finely into a powder. Each dose consists of one qian mixed with warm wine, taken three times daily. Additionally, apply vinegar topically to the affected area.
Formula for treating Bai Bo:
Liu Huang (Sulfur, 1 liang, finely ground), She Tui Pi (Snake Slough, one strip, calcined to ash), Cao Jue Ming (Cassiae Semen, 1 liang, raw use), Ban Xia (Pinellia Rhizome, 1 liang, raw use), Shu Pi (Tree Bark, 1 liang).
The above herbs are pounded and sieved into a fine powder, mixed with clear lacquer, and thinly applied to the white patches. Before applying the medicine, first cut a fresh Ba Dou (Croton Seed) in half and rub it on the white patch until the skin becomes slightly red.
Another formula:
Xiong Huang (Realgar, 1 liang), Liu Huang (Sulfur, 1 liang), Fu Zi (Prepared Aconite Root, 1 liang, peeled and navel removed, used raw or processed).
