The Kidney Meridian of Foot-Shaoyin (Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Channel) is the gathering point of numerous meridians, and its Qi connects to the ears. If the Kidneys are injured by overexertion, leading to deficiency and damage of the Zong Mai (Major Vessels), and a insufficiency of Blood and Qi, Wind-Evil may take advantage of this weakness.
To treat long-standing deafness and tinnitus, or cases accompanied by otorrhea (discharge from the ear), which are often caused by Kidney Deficiency resulting in chronic non-resolution, it is advisable to consume Tie Jiang Jiu (Iron Slurry Wine).
Ingredients: Old Iron (30 jin, heated until red-hot, then soaked in 5 dou of water for three nights; clarify the liquid); Chang Pu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma, 7 jin, sliced, boiled in 1 shi of water until 5 dou remain; remove dregs and clarify).

Combine the above liquids to make 1 shi 5 dou. Add 2 shi of rice and 3 dou of yeast, ferment according to standard wine-making methods. Once the wine is ripe, open it and add 3 jin of Ci Shi (Magnetitum), crush and sieve it.
This formula is suitable for patients with long-standing deafness.
