The Lung governs the exterior and nourishes the skin and hair. If heat-toxin accumulates and lingers within the Zang-Fu organs, storing for a long time without being vented and circulated, it will attack the exterior. Alternatively, upon exposure to wind pathogens, Lung Wind may manifest, causing skin itching; scratching leads to sores. The mind feels deficient and vexed, and the head and eyes feel heavy and unclear. It is appropriate to take Niuhuang San (Civet and Rhinoceros Horn Powder).
Niuhuang (finely ground) [Cortex Moschus] Xijiao Xie (Rhinoceros Horn Shavings) [Cornu Rhinocerotis] Xingren (soaked in hot water, skin and tips removed, twin kernels, bran-fried until slightly yellow) [Semen Pruni Armeniacae] Fangfeng (radicle removed) [Radix Saposhnikoviae] Xixin [Herba Asari] Tianzhuhuang (finely ground) [Calculus Bovis Indicus] Zhike (bran-fried until slightly yellow) [Fructus Aurantii Immaturus] Binglang [Arecae Semen] Lingyangjiao Xie (Antelope Horn Shavings) [Cornu Saigae Tataricae] Gancao (honey-fried until slightly red and chopped) [above each half liang] Shexiang (one fen, finely ground) [Moschus]
