The Gallbladder is harmonized with the Liver. The Foot-Shaoyang (Gallbladder) Meridian is its associated channel. It is referred to as the "Clear and Pure Organ." Planning and deliberation originate from it. If deficient, cold arises; when cold prevails, fear and apprehension occur, leading to an inability to sleep alone and frequent startles or nightmares.
For treating Cold due to Deficiency of the Gallbladder, manifesting as vertigo, headache, mental fear and apprehension, inability to be alone, and fullness and oppression in the chest, the Fushen San (Poria Pill Powder) Formula is appropriate.
Ingredients: Fushen (Poria with Hostwood) (1 liang), Yuanzhi (Radix Polygalae) (3 fen, heart removed), Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae) (3 fen, radix tip removed), Xixin (Rhizoma Asari) (3 fen), Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae) (3 fen), Qianhu (Radix Peucedani) (3 fen), Zhike (Fructus Aurantii) (0.5 liang, bran-fried until slightly yellow, pith removed).
Process the above herbs by crushing and sieving to make a powder. Take 3 qian per dose. Add 1 zhong of water and 0.5 fen of fresh ginger, decoct until reduced to 0.6 zhong, strain, and take warm at any time.
For treating Cold due to Deficiency of the Gallbladder, manifesting as unsettled spirit, dizziness of head and eyes, and frequent fear and apprehension, the Suanzaoren San (Sour Jujube Seed Powder) Formula is appropriate.
