Gu poison harms the human body, eroding the fu and zang organs. Its manifestations include severe pain in the heart region, as if being bitten by an object; or a bluish-yellow complexion of the face and eyes, with unpredictable changes in the condition. This is because the pathogenic factor first injures the area above the diaphragm, leading to hematemesis (vomiting blood). If not treated immediately, the erosion of the zang and fu organs will result in death.
Prescription for treating hematemesis caused by gu poisoning: Xionghuang San (Realgar Powder)
Xionghuang (Realgar, *Arsenicum Rubrum*) (1 fen, finely ground)
Fuxia Huangtu (Yellow earth from under the cooking pot) (0.5 liang, finely ground)
Tagan (Liver of the American Badger, *Taxidea taxus*) (Size of a date, slightly roasted)
Banmao (Blister Beetle, *Mylabris phalerata*) (10 pieces, stir-fried with glutinous rice until yellow, wings and feet removed)
The above ingredients are crushed and passed through a fine sieve to make a powder. Each dose is taken on an empty stomach, mixed with buttermilk and administered orally (2 qian). If toads or snakes are vomited out, the disease will be cured.
Another prescription:
Baigupi (Aged drum skin, *Dermis taboris*) (3 cun, roasted until slightly scorched)
Kushen (Sophora Root, *Sophorae Flavescentis Radix*) (1 liang, sliced)
Hegen (Lotus Root, *Nelumbinis Rhizoma*) (1 liang)
The above ingredients are crushed and passed through a coarse sieve to make a powder. Divided into four doses. For each dose, decoct with one large bowl of water until reduced to two-fifths of the original volume. Strain the dregs. Take warm, regardless of meal times, twice daily.
For treating gu poisoning with hematemesis, or lower gastrointestinal bleeding resembling rotten liver tissue, this prescription is suitable:
Qiancaogen (Rubia Root, *Rubiae Cordifoliae Radix et Rhizoma*) (0.5 sheng)
Hegen (Lotus Root, *Nelumbinis Rhizoma*) (0.5 sheng)
The above ingredients are finely sliced. Decoct with three large bowls of water until reduced to one and a half bowls. Strain the dregs. Take warm in three divided doses on an empty stomach, 3 qian per dose.
Another prescription:
Kuhu (Bitter Gourd, *Momordicae Fructus*) (one piece, sliced)
Decoct with one (or two) large bowls of water. Strain the dregs and obtain one bowl. Take warm in two divided doses on an empty stomach. Vomiting and purging the gu poison will yield efficacy.
Prescription for treating hematemesis due to gu poisoning:
Xiaomaimian (Wheat Flour, *Tritici Vulgaris Farina*) (2 he), divided into three doses. Mix with cold water and take orally. Finish within half a day. Purging the gu poison will lead to recovery.
Another prescription:
Take the heartwood of mulberry wood (*Mori Cortex* core), slice into two dou. Place in a pot, submerge with five dou of water, ensuring the water level is three cun above the wood. Boil down to two dou. Clarify the liquid. Simmer over low heat until reduced to five sheng. Do not eat at night. In the morning, take five he. Vomiting the gu poison will lead to recovery.
Prescription for treating hematemesis due to gu poisoning:
Fresh Jiegeng (Platycodon Root, *Platycodi Radix*), crush to extract juice. Take one small bowl per dose, three times daily.
Gu poison can transform into toxicity. Those who accumulate it use it to harm others. It often enters the body through diet. Upon infection, the patient experiences dryness and pain in the heart and abdomen, unbearable irritability and toxicity, erosion of the five zang organs, and lower gastrointestinal bleeding that is dark and clotted like rotten chicken liver.
For treating lower gastrointestinal bleeding due to gu poisoning, where the stool resembles rotten flesh, causing abdominal pain as if bitten by an object: If not treated immediately, erosion of the five zang organs will cause death.
