Lougu disease (a type of ulcer occurring on the neck, named for its resemblance to a mole cricket), arises from consuming fruits containing insects. Upon ingestion, internal injury occurs to the intestines; toxic substances remain unexpelled and transform into this condition. Initially, the lesion appears on the upper neck, resembling a snail shell, manifesting as urticaria-like eruptions, with its root located in the Large Intestine.
For Lougu disease arising between the neck and shoulders, characterized by swelling, hardness, and pain, use Danshen San (Salvia Powder).
Danshen (Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae, 2 liang), Shuodi Gen (Radix Datiscae Cannabinae, 2 liang), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata, 0.5 liang, roasted until slightly red and chopped), Qinjiao (Radix Gentianae Macrophyllae, 1 liang, radix removed), Duhuo (Rhizoma et Radix Angelicae Pubescentis, 1 liang), Niubangzi (Fructus Arctii, 1 liang), Zhizhu Hua (Flos Rhododendri Moriifolii, 0.5 liang), Chuanjiao (Pericarpium Zanthoxyli, 0.5 liang, eyes and closed ones removed, lightly stir-fried to remove moisture), Nixi (Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae, 1 liang, radix removed).
Crush and sieve the above ingredients to make a powder. Take 3 qian per dose. Add one zhong of water, decoct until reduced to 6 fen, strain off the dregs. Take on an empty stomach daily and before evening meals.
For Lougu disease, use Tingchang San (Ground Beetle Powder).
Tingchang (Eupolyphaga seu Steleophaga, 6 pieces, heads, feet, and wings removed, stir-fried with glutinous rice until yellow), Chuan Dahuang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei, 0.5 liang, chopped and lightly stir-fried), Xixin (Herba Asari, 0.5 liang), Guixin (Cortex Cinnamomi Cassiae, 1 fen), Lingqi Jia (Squama Manis, 1 liang, roasted until yellow), Fengshu Jiachong Fen (Excrement of beetle larvae from maple trees, three finger-pinches).
Grind the above ingredients finely through a fine sieve to make a powder. Take 1 qian mixed with warm wine on an empty stomach daily, and take another dose before evening meals.
For Lougu disease presenting with pain and purulent discharge, use Guixin Wan (Cinnamon Heart Pill).
Guixin (Cortex Cinnamomi Cassiae, 1 fen), Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae, 0.5 liang, chopped), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum, refined, 1 fen), Duhuo (Rhizoma et Radix Angelicae Pubescentis, 0.5 liang), Chuanxiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong, 1 fen), Chuan Dahuang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei, 0.5 liang, [text incomplete]).
Pulverize the above ingredients through a sieve, mix with refined honey to form pills the size of mung beans. Take 20 pills with warm rice water on an empty stomach and before evening meals.
For Lougu disease, use Machixian Gao (Purslane Ointment).
Machixian (Herba Portulae Oleraceae, dried in shade, 0.5 liang), Lanyue Chunmazhu Jin (Ashes of pure hemp oil lamp wicks burned in the twelfth lunar month, 0.5 liang).
Grind the above ingredients finely through a sieve, mix with lard from the twelfth lunar month to form an ointment. First, cleanse the affected area with warm water, dry it, and apply the ointment.
