The vital energy nurtured by Yin and Yang does not cease after ten months. Whether male or female, they correspond to the Bright Star above and are urged by the Si Ming (Soul Master) deity, resulting in the simultaneous birth of the fetus and the placenta. Execute swiftly as per the decree (Ji Ji Ru Lü Ling).
Difficult labor occurs because the fetal qi is formed, and the fetus resides in the womb, consuming the mother's blood. Excess consumption leads to the formation of clumps, commonly known as "child pillow" (Er Zhen Zi). Attempts to explain this as heterodox theories are forced. As the due month approaches, once abdominal pain and movement are felt, reports are made. Bystanders cause commotion, frightening the parturient woman and causing mental unrest. The heart qi becomes constrained, leading to difficult labor. It is essential to know that when ten months are complete, one must not panic or worry. When abdominal pain begins, an elderly woman should provide calm care, avoiding crowds and agitation. As abdominal pain becomes frequent and amniotic fluid breaks, delivery will occur shortly.
Formula for treating prolonged labor lasting several days, with fetal qi rushing to the heart, causing suffocation and fainting:
Su (Butyrum, 酥, 1 liang), Dong Kui Zi (Malvae Semen, 冬葵子, 1 he), Hua Shi (Talcum, 滑石, 0.5 liang).
Pound the latter two ingredients into powder, place in a raw silk bag. Decoct with 1 large cup of wine for ten boils, then add Su. Boil for one or two more boils. Divide and take warm.
Another formula:
Yu Bai Pi (Cortex Ulmi, 榆白皮, chopped), Hua Shi (Talcum, 滑石), Dang Gui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, 当归), Che Qian Zi (Plantaginis Semen, 车前子), Yi Mu Cao (Herba Leonuri, 益母草, each 0.5 liang).

Pound coarsely into powder. Take 2 qian per dose, with 1 medium cup of water and 1 tea spoon of Su. Decoct until reduced to 6/10, remove dregs, and take warm.
Formula for treating term pregnancy with several days of no labor and uneasiness, intended to help the fetus be delivered hand-first:
Zhao Zi Bi (Nasal bone of a specific animal?, 照子鼻, 8 pieces, burned red and quenched in vinegar nine times, pounded to powder), Huai Zi (Sophorae Fructus, 槐子, 10 liang, powdered).
Mix and grind evenly, bind with refined honey into pills the size of Sophora seeds. Roll in rice flour in a copper vessel until red. Take on July 10th at noon.
Formula for treating three days of no labor:
Take rat head, burn to ash, grind finely. Take 1 qian mixed with fresh well water. Immediate effect.
