Treats sudden apoplexy (stroke) with loss of consciousness, gradually progressing to hemiplegia (paralysis of one side of the body), deviation of the mouth and eyes (facial paralysis), trembling of hands and feet, dysarthria (slurred speech), chaotic spirit and breath, dizziness and heaviness of the head and eyes, excessive phlegm and saliva, spasm of sinews and vessels preventing flexion and extension, painful bones and joints making turning over difficult. Administration of this formula is effective for all these conditions. If used to treat Hong Kong foot (gouty arthritis/weakness of lower limbs) causing flaccidity, long-term use leads to recovery. For those suffering from chronic wind diseases, especially when weather becomes cloudy or seasons change, it should be taken to prevent aphonia (loss of voice).

For men and women suffering from wind deficiency, cold, and dampness where pathogenic factors enter the zang organs, causing delirium and mental confusion. When Liver Wind manifests, there is cyanosis of the face, chest oppression, distension of the hypochondrium, dizziness and heaviness of the head, deafness, hemiplegia, tendon spasm, and a curled-up sleeping posture. When Heart Wind manifests, there is facial redness, alternating heat and cold, sadness, crying, and shouting. When Spleen Wind manifests, there is sallow complexion, numbness of the body, inability to walk, loss of taste, inverted dreams, and feeling as if following the dead. When Lung Wind manifests, there is pale complexion, cough with counterflow qi, expectoration of pus and blood, and severe dyspnea. When Kidney Wind manifests, there is dark complexion, incoordination of hands and feet, low back pain making bending difficult. These symptoms cause palpitations, instability of will, mental confusion, and forgetfulness. Taking this decoction calms the mind, stabilizes the spirit, sharpens hearing and vision, and unblocks the five zang organs.
