[Qianjin Dayangpi Wan (Thousand Gold Great Spleen-Nourishing Pill)]
The indications are the same as those for the preceding Muxiang Fenqi Wan.
Herbs: Aquipiae Radix (Muxiang, 木香), Eugeniae Caryophylli Cortex (Dingxiangpi, 丁香皮), Cyperi Rhizoma (Xiangfuzi) (stir-fried, remove hairs), Curcumae Zedoariae Rhizoma (Peng'ezhu) (roasted), Amomi Fructus Rotundus (Suosharen), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao) (each 4 liang), and Houttuyniae Herba (Huoxiangye).
Dry the above ten herbs in the sun, avoiding direct fire. Pound them, sieve into fine powder, and use thin rice paste as a binder to make pills the size of Sophora japonica seeds. Take 20 to 30 pills each time, swallowed with decoction of fresh ginger and tangerine peel, at any time. This is most suitable for people with spleen and stomach deficiency. Regular consumption can broaden the middle jiao, smooth qi circulation, and promote appetite.
Indicated for all types of rebellious qi, obstruction and stuffiness in the chest and diaphragm, and unilateral abdominal distension and bloating. Also indicated for heart-spleen pain, vomiting of sour fluid, and hernia qi in men (note: original text contains fragmented phrase "qi.").
Herbs: Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum (Chenxiang), Piperis Longi Fructus (Hujiao) (each 1 liang), Aquipiae Radix (Muxiang), Amomi Fructus Rotundus (Suosharen) (remove shell), Cinnamomi Ramulus (Guixin) (remove rough bark, each 2 liang), Eugeniae Caryophylli Cortex (Dingxiangpi), Zingiberis Radix Preparata (Ganjiang) (pao-processed), Curcumae Zedoariae Rhizoma (Peng'ezhu) (roasted), Foeniculi Fructus (Huixiang) (stir-fried), Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride (Qingpi) (remove white pith, stir-fried with bran), Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (Chenpi) (remove pulp, stir-fried with bran), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Preparata (Gancao) (zhi-processed, each 4 liang).
Pound the above into fine powder. Take 2 qian each time, mixed with decoction of fresh ginger, Perillae Folium (Zisu), and salt. For women, take with light vinegar water.
Indicated for discomfort in the epigastrium, fullness and distension of the heart and abdomen, stagnation of yin and yang qi, failure of qi to ascend and descend, sensation of blockage in the chest and diaphragm, panting and shortness of breath, dry retching with irritability and phlegm-saliva, tastelessness in the mouth, lethargy and reduced appetite, retention of old cold and lingering fluids, accumulation that does not digest, hypochondriac support and knotting, and frequent feeling of oppression. Specifically treats hardness and fullness of the soles and abdomen, edema of limbs, which hinders diet.
Herbs: Perillae Folium (Zisuye) (remove stems, 4 liang), Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex (Noupu) (remove rough bark, processed with ginger juice), Cinnamomi Ramulus (Rougui) (remove rough bark, avoid fire), Pinelliae Rhizoma Preparatum (Banxia) (washed seven times in boiling water, 3.5 liang).
Cut the above into small pieces. Take 2 to 3 qian each time, with one large cup of water and three slices of fresh ginger. Decoct until two-sevenths remain, strain, and take warm, at any time. Regular consumption can resolve phlegm-fluids, dissipate stagnant qi, and promote appetite.
Indicated for spleen and stomach deficiency, retention of cold and lingering fluids, diaphragmatic qi obstruction, regurgitation and vomiting of food, chest and heart痞 (fullness/obstruction), hypochondriac empty distension, back and spine pain, low food intake with easy injury, weak speech and shortness of breath, bitter taste in mouth and dry tongue, nausea and dry retching, preference for salivation and sour regurgitation, chronic diarrhea, failure of vital qi to return to normal after prolonged illness, loss of taste in food, emaciation and sallow complexion, and excessive phlegm after drinking alcohol. All these conditions are suitable for this prescription.
Herbs: Aurantii Fructus Immaturus (Zhike), Massae Fermentatae Medicinalis (Shenqu), Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (Chenpi) (remove white pith), Milii Germen (Maiya) (stir-fried), Foeniculi Fructus (Huixiang), Zingiberis Rhizoma (Baijiang) (pao-processed), Amomi Fructus Rotundus (Suosharen) (remove skin), Myristicae Semen (Roudoukou), Sparganii Rhizoma (Sanleng), Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Baizhu).
Grind the above equal parts into powder. Use refined honey to make pills the size of a bullet. Take one pill each time, chew thoroughly, and swallow with plain boiled water; warm wine may also be used. Take on an empty stomach or before meals. Regular consumption nourishes and benefits the spleen and stomach, significantly promoting appetite.
