Treats carbuncles, back abscesses (Fa Bei), intestinal abscesses (Chang Yong), breast abscesses (Nai Yong), and unnameable swellings and toxins. It addresses the pain, aversion to cold with high fever, and symptoms resembling Taiyang disease (Taiyang Bing) caused by these conditions, and is applicable even for patients with deficiency constitution.
Honeysuckle Herb (Jinyinhua, 金银花 - here specified as Ren Dong Cao, removing stems) [5 liang], Astragalus Root (Huangqi, 黄芪 - removing the rhizome tip) [5 liang], Angelica Sinensis Root (Danggui, 当归) [1 liang 2 qian], Licorice Root (Gancao, 甘草 - honey-fried) [8 liang].
Pulverize the above into a fine powder. Take 2 qian per dose, add 1.5 cups of wine, and decoct until reduced to 1 cup. If the lesion is in the upper body, take after meals; if in the lower body, take before meals. After a short while, administer the second dose. Retain the dregs for external application. For abscesses where pus has not yet formed, internal resolution occurs; for those where pus has formed, immediate ulceration/drainage ensues.
Promotes wound contraction, regenerates muscle tissue, alleviates pain, and removes foul discharge. It is effective regardless of whether the condition is recent or chronic.
Calcitum (Han Shui Shi, 寒水石 - calcined in charcoal fire until red hot, cooled and finely ground) [2 liang], Minium (Huang Dan, 黄丹) [0.5 liang].
Grind both together into a fine powder. Apply dry powder directly into the wound. Subsequently, apply Wanjing Ointment (Wanjing Gao). Change dressing once daily; re-application is particularly beneficial.
Treats carbuncles, back abscesses, various sores and boils, injuries from falls from heights, contusions and trauma from blows, sores on feet and knees, chronic non-healing ulcers, five types of hemorrhoids and fistulas, and all kinds of malignant sores.
Dragon Bone (Long Gu), Turtle Shell (Bie Jia), Sophora Root (Kushen), Cuttlefish Bone (Wuzheiyu Gu), Phellodendron Bark (Huangbai), Aconite Lateralis Radix Praeparata (Caowutou), Coptis Rhizome (Huanglian), Glycyrrhiza Uralensis Root (Zaogeng/Zaojiao - Pig Tooth Soap Pod), Scutellaria Root (Huangqin), Ampelopsis Radix (Bailian), Bletilla Tuber (Baiji), Momordica Charantia Seed (Mubiezi Ren), Angelica Sinensis Root (Danggui - washed and baked), Magnolia Bark (Nongpu - removing rough bark), Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome (Chuanxiong), Angelica Dahurica Root (Xiangbaizhi), Myrrha (Moyao - separately ground), Branches of Sophora Japonica (Huai Zhi), Branches of Salix Alba (Liu Zhi) [all use 0.5 jin].
Except for Minium (Huang Dan), place all other herbs in oil within a silver or earthenware vessel. Decoct slowly over low heat until the mixture turns purple-red. Remove and discard the herbal residues. Add half of the Minium to the oil, stirring constantly until it turns slightly black. Then add the remaining Minium, continuing to stir constantly. Must simmer slowly over low heat until purple-black. Test by dropping a small amount into water; it should not disperse nor stick to fingers. Then add a small amount more of Minium, boil a few more times. If too hard, add a little more oil. The consistency is adequate when it does not stick to hands. When using, spread onto paper according to the size of the sore and apply externally.
