To treat *Zhong'e* (Sudden Evil) and *Kewu* (Guest Hostility) leading to a critical, near-death state.
Cinnabaris (processed by water levigation, finely ground) Fuzii Preparata (prepared, skin and navel removed) Realgar (processed by water levigation and ground, each 1 liang) Moschus (1 fen, ground) Crotonis Fructus (20 seeds, skin and heart removed, ground, wrapped in paper and pounded to remove oil)
Finely grind the above ingredients uniformly, mix with refined honey, and pound for three to five hundred strokes. Form pills the size of hemp seeds. Take three pills each time, at any time, swallowed with rice gruel broth. If diarrhea does not occur, increase by three pills up to five or seven pills, stopping when bowel movement is achieved.
To treat *Zhong'e*, *Zhongwu*, and ghostly qi. The symptoms manifest as suddenly seeing ghosts while at night, using the toilet, being in the suburbs, empty houses, or uninhabited places; inhaling foul air through the nose and mouth after sudden exposure; collapsing abruptly; cold limbs; clenched fists; clear blood flowing from the nose and mouth; life hanging by a thread, requiring immediate rescue within moments.
This condition is similar to *Shijue* (Corpse-like Trance), but the abdomen does not rumble, and the heart and hypochondrium remain warm. Do not move the patient. Immediately have people surround the patient, beating drums and pouring fire, or burning Moschus, Benzoin, Atractylodis Rhizoma, and Camphora wood, etc., until the patient awakens before moving them back.
Cinnabaris Magna Moschus (raw, ground, each 1 fen) Cornu Rhinocerotis (half liang, shaved into flakes, ground into powder)
Grind the above into a fine powder, mix uniformly. Take 2 qian each time, mixed with well-water and administered orally. If the aforementioned medicines are unavailable, use single herbs only.
The method mentioned above: Pierce the nostrils with the yellow center of green onion stalks until bleeding occurs for cure. *Zhouhou Fang* states: Inserting it seven or eight cun causes no harm; it is best if blood flows from the eyes. Cui Shi states: For males, use the left side; for females, the right side.
The method mentioned above: Lay the patient supine, block both ears with an object, insert two bamboo tubes into the patient's nostrils, and have two people blow forcefully into the tubes. Block the sides of the mouth to prevent air leakage. After half a day, if the patient belches, stop blowing.
The method mentioned above: Write the character "Ghost" on the tongue and forehead using Cinnabar. This is highly effective.
The method mentioned above: Pound fresh roots of Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma, extract juice, and administer orally for immediate recovery. In *Shijue* (Corpse-like Trance), sudden death occurs, but the pulse still beats, there is a faint whispering sound heard in the ears, and warmth in the thighs. Treat this with the aforementioned formula.
To treat possession by evil qi or ghosts, characterized by delirious speech, frantic running, confusion, and inability to recognize people.
Cinnabaris (ground) Realgar Longgu (fossilized bones) Arecae Semen (dehulled, roasted) Adzuki Bean (each 1.5 liang) Persicae Semen (soaked in hot water, skin and tips removed, double-kernel removed, finely roasted, 50 seeds) Ramulus Eucommiae Ulmoidis (stem removed, 2.5 liang) Mylabris (30 specimens, roasted, wings and legs removed)
