[Supplementary Formulas] Treatment of Zhong'e Huoluan (With Discussion)
1. Treatment for Huoluan with muscle cramps, using this method to wash the feet.
Herbs: Fuzi (Prepared Aconiti Lateralis Radix, peeled and navel removed), Bai Fan (Alumen, each 3 liang); Tao Zhi (Peach Twig, finely cut, 3 handfuls); Cong Gen Xu (Scallion Rootlets, finely cut, 3 handfuls).
Usage: The above herbs are decocted in 3 dou of water for 20-30 boils. Observe the temperature; it is best to wash the feet with warm water for as long as possible. If urgent, add 5 sheng of vinegar and decoct together before use.
2. Treatment for Huoluan with muscle cramps, using this method to wash the feet.
Herbs: Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata, one piece, peeled and navel removed); Sheng Jiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium, raw, wrapped in cotton cloth); Sheng Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, chopped, each 1 fen); Cong (Allii Fistulosi Bulbus, half a jin, chopped).
Usage: The above herbs are decocted in 1 dou of water for 2-3 boils. Pour into a porcelain basin, filter out the dregs, and adjust the temperature with salt solution to be neither too hot nor too cold. Wash the affected area; recovery will be immediate.
3. Treatment for Huoluan with muscle cramps extending into the abdomen.
Usage: Take 3 he of salt, decoct in 5 sheng of water until reduced to 3 sheng. Soak a blue cloth in the liquid and apply it to the site of cramping. Another method: boil water and soak the hands and feet. If the pathology is in the chest or hypochondrium, wash with the decoction. If the pathogen enters the abdomen, carry the patient upside down on a stretcher with the head lower than the body, stopping only when the abdomen relaxes. In severe cases, traction on the yin region is required; if the yin retracts, death is certain. Alternatively, soak in very salty warm water in a trough.
4. Treatment for muscle cramps extending into the abdomen, accompanied by rapid breathing, restlessness, and thirst.
Usage: Take two Mu Gua (Chaenomeles Fructus), cut open, and decoct in 5 sheng of water until reduced to 3 sheng. Soak a blue cloth in the decoction and wrap it around the cramping muscles. If Mu Gua is unavailable, decoct 2 liang of Tao Zhi (Peach Twig) instead. Alternatively, drink the boiled juice of Mu Gua.
5. Usage: Mix Wu Zhu Yu (Evodiae Fructus) and Mu Gua (Chaenomeles Fructus) in equal parts, grind into powder, and take with warm wine.
6. Treatment for Sha Zi Jiao Chang Sha (Sand-strangling Intestinal Sand), a critical condition.
Formula: Hei Shen San (Black Divine Powder).
Usage: Administer mixed with urine from an uncircumcised boy. If symptoms persist, administer again for immediate cure.
7. There is a syndrome characterized by severe colicky pain in the heart and abdomen, cold sweat, and distension/stuffiness approaching suffocation, commonly known as "Jiao Chang Sha" (Intestinal Strangling Sand). Upon examination, this syndrome is named "Gan Huoluan" (Dry Huoluan). It is caused by mountain miasma or irregular eating habits leading to sudden chaos of Yin and Yang. Emergency treatment requires inducing vomiting. This method has saved many lives.
Usage: Take half a zhan of salt, dissolve in several bowls of hot water, and have the patient drink it all. Then, stimulate the throat with a chicken feather to induce immediate vomiting of the salt water. Once the salt water is fully vomited, the syndrome resolves.
