To treat nebulae or opacities within the eye, or residual toxins remaining after the resolution of sores and rashes.
Zhen Ge Fen (True Clam Powder, ground separately) Gu Jing Cao (Valerian Flower, ground raw into powder, each one liang)
Grind the above ingredients uniformly. Take two qian per dose. Use a slice of pig liver about three fingers wide, slice it open, sprinkle the medicine on it, roll it up tightly, and tie it with hemp thread. Boil in one bowl of thick rice water until the liver is cooked. Remove, let cool, chew thoroughly before bed after meals, and swallow with the original rice water used for boiling. Avoid all toxic substances, maintaining a strict vegetarian diet like a fast; alternatively, decoct the aforementioned medicine with white persimmons until dry, remove the medicinal residues, and consume only the persimmons. Sun Yingzhong stated: Whenever one suffers from sores, one must not consume chicken or duck, as this will inevitably generate nebulae and membranes. The daughter of Qian Jihua, aged only a few years old, developed nebulae in both eyes after suffering from sores and rashes. She took only this prescription, and the white membranes receded by three layers in each eye, allowing her pupils to become clear.
To treat dim vision due to weakness of Yuan Qi (Primordial Qi) caused by rising early after illness, where there are no nebulae or membranes in the eyes, but the condition is progressing towards internal cataracts.
Ci Shi (Magnetitum, two liang, calcined, quenched in vinegar seven times, pounded and finely ground, processed by water flotation) Rou Cong Rong (Cistanche Stem, one liang, soaked in wine overnight, scraped of tender skin, dried by roasting) Tu Si Zi (Cuscutae Semen, soaked in wine for five days, sun-dried, ground separately into powder, three liang) Bu Gu Zhi (Psoraleae Fructus, lightly stir-fried) Ba Ji Tian (Morinda Officinalis Root, heart removed, prepared) Shu Di Huang (Prepared Rehmannia Root, eight qian) Sheng Di Huang (Raw Rehmannia Root, processed with wine) Huang Bai (Phellodendri Cortex, processed with wine) Dang Gui Shen (Angelica Sinensis Root Body, processed with wine) Chong Wei Zi (Leonuri Fructus) Dan Shen (Salvia Miltiorrhiza Root, each half liang above) Hei Fu Zi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata, processed) Han Shui Shi (Bingdepositem, raw use, each one qian) Shao Yao (Paeoniae Radix, one liang three qian) Fang Ji (Stephaniae Tetrandrae Rhizoma, processed with wine, two qian) Zhi Mu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, processed with wine) Mu Dan Pi (Moutan Cortex) Qiang Huo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix) Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma, each three qian above) Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix, half liang, or three qian)
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Form pills using refined honey, sized like small beans. Take fifty to seventy pills per dose, swallowed with plain warm water on an empty stomach. If digestion is incomplete, take them when hungry. Avoid speaking; follow the dosage with food to suppress the medicinal force. Li Dongyuan's *Lan Shi Mi Cang* states: If the nebula is located at the inner canthus (Da Mei), add Ge Gen (Puerariae Radix) and Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma); if the nebula is at the outer canthus (Xiao Mei), add Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix) and Qiang Huo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix).
