Qibo said: Contracting pathogenic factors on Ren and Gui days (days associated with Water in the Heavenly Stems) during winter results in Kidney Wind. When Kidney Qi is deficient and Wind pathogens invade, the patient may experience difficulty squatting, lower back pain, inability to bend forward or extend backward, or hemiplegia, empty ringing in both ears, turbid voice, prominent facial edema, soreness and pain in bone joints, mental confusion and drowsiness, predisposition to fearfulness and forgetfulness, dark complexion, heavy body sensation, profuse sweating with aversion to wind, and dysfunction of the genitalia or bowels/bladder. This constitutes Wind Stroke of the Kidney.
For treating Wind Stroke of the Kidney characterized by pain in the waist and spine, inability to bend or extend, cold numbness in both legs, weakness and loss of motor control, dizziness, deafness, and a heavy, muffled voice, the following prescription is suitable.
Du Huo (Dangosmi Radix), Fu Zi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, processed, peel and umbilicus removed), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Tian Ma (Gastrodiae Rhizoma), Gui Xin (Cinnamomi Cortex), each 1 qian; Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma, wine-soaked); Bi Xie (Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae Rhizoma, wine-soaked).
Take as one dose, add two zhong of water and five slices of fresh ginger, decoct until one zhong remains, and take at any time.
For treating diseases of the Kidney Meridian manifesting as profuse sweating with aversion to wind, facial edema, spinal pain, inability to walk or stand, and changes in skin color, which indicates pathology in the Kidney Meridian. If red-yellow patches resembling cakes are observed around the hypochondrium (left, right, upper, and lower areas), the condition is treatable. Urgently moxa the Shenshu (BL-23) acupoint for 100 moxa cones. If teeth turn yellow, hair and beard become stiff and upright, and the face takes on an earthy hue, the condition is untreatable.
Bi Xie (Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae Rhizoma, wine-soaked), Gou Ji (Cibotii Rhizoma), Du Zhong (Eucommiae Cortex, stir-fried, fibers removed), Bai Fu Ling (Poria, peel removed), each 1 liang; He Shou Wu (Polygoni Multiflori Radix); Tian Xiong (Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix, peel and umbilicus removed).
Grind into fine powder. Take 2 qian per dose, mixed with rice water, at any time.
For treating injury from Wind pathogens affecting the Kidneys, manifesting as slurred speech, inability to rotate or twist the waist and spine, weak and painful/numb feet and knees, dizziness, tinnitus, and heaviness of the body, the following prescription is suitable.
