Formula verse for treating abdominal distension:
Long-standing stuffiness and pain in the chest and abdomen are often due to qi stagnation and food accumulation disturbing the Spleen meridian;
Decoct three qian of Suo Sha Ren (Amomi Fructus) together; the decoction regulating the middle jiao is most effective.
For chronic abdominal distension, Spleen pain with middle jiao fullness, stuffiness and loss of appetite, occasional difficulty in urination and defecation, and lower abdominal urgency, use two doses of San He San (Three Harmonizing Powder) from *Ju Fang*.
Crush twenty grains of Suo Sha Ren (Amomi Fructus). Add three zhan of water, ten slices of Sheng Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), and ten stems of Deng Xin Cao (Junci Medulla). Decoct together until one and a half zhan remains. Strain and divide into three doses. Before taking the medicine, drink half a dose of the aforementioned Middle Regulating Decoction. Immediate effect is expected.
Another formula verse for treating abdominal distension:
How to withstand abdominal distension and Spleen pain? Besides Jiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium) and Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), there is Ding Xiang (Caryophylli Flos);
Grind these three ingredients in equal parts to a fine powder, then mix with Bai Yan (Halitum) and warm water for administration.
Diseases of Spleen pain are all caused by cold qi stagnation accumulating in the chest and diaphragm, sometimes accompanied by vomiting of sour fluid and loss of appetite. Use Hu Jiao (Piperis Nigris Fructus), Sheng Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), and Ding Xiang (Caryophylli Flos) in equal parts, ground into a fine powder. Take one and a half or two qian each time, add a little salt, and mix with warm water at any time.
