Treats the Eight Winds and Five Obstructions (types of bi-syndrome characterized by pain, numbness, or paralysis), resulting in insensitivity of the limbs. It is also indicated for severe cases where wind-cold invades the brain, causing headache due to Yang deficiency, aversion to human voices, and vertigo/dizziness. It simultaneously treats damp-bi syndrome and Hongjiao (foot-leg weakness/beriberi).
Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, 8 liang) Ganjiang (Dried Ginger, 10 liang, processed) Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, 12 liang, remove rhizome) Shanzhuyu (Corni Fructus, 16 liang, remove seeds) Fuling (Poria, [text missing dosage])
Grind the above into a fine powder. Take 2 qian per dose, mixed with warm wine before meals.
Treats Wind-stroke affecting the Heart and Spleen, characterized by a stiff tongue and inability to speak, and hemiplegia.
Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, processed, remove skin and umbilicus) Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, remove rhizome) Tianma (Gastrodiae Rhizoma) Suanzaoren (Ziziphi Spinosae Semen, each 1.5 qian) Lingyangjiao (Saigae Tataricae Cornu) Guongui (Cinnamomi Cortex) Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix, [text missing dosage])
Take as one dose. Add two zhong of water, decoct until one zhong remains. Add two spoons of Zhuli (Bamboo Sap). Take at any time.
Method for obtaining Bamboo Sap: Select several stalks of fresh bamboo, cut them to a length of slightly over one chi. Split them into slices. Place two bricks opposite each other, lay the bamboo slices on top. Ignite fire beneath. Place bowls at both ends outside the bricks to collect the dripping sap. Once drained, filter clearly through silk gauze. In summer and autumn, submerge in cold water to prevent souring. For individuals with excessive heat and phlegm-wind, it may be taken alone; temperature can be adjusted according to preference, but do not overconsume. The method for extracting sap from Jingchai (Juncus effusus stem) is the same.
Treats hemiplegia of hands and feet in men and women, excessive accumulation of wind-phlegm, vomiting of saliva/froth, as well as infantile convulsions.
Nanxing (Arisaematis Rhizoma, raw use) Baifuzi (Typhonii Rhizoma, each 2 liang) Chuanwutou (Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix, 0.5 liang, remove skin and umbilicus) Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, 7 liang, select high-quality white ones, soak and wash in water)
Grind the above into a fine powder. Place in a raw silk bag and immerse in Jinghua Shui (well water drawn early in the morning). Shake to extract soluble components. For residue, knead by hand to further extract. Grind the dregs again and filter through a new silk bag until fully extracted. Place in a porcelain basin for sun-drying during the day and dew-exposure at night. Change the water fresh every morning, stir and allow to settle. Duration: Spring 5 days, Summer 3 days, Autumn 7 days, Winter 10 days. Remove water and dry until resembling jade flakes. Crush and grind finely. Use congee liquid made from glutinous rice flour as a binder to form pills, sized like mung beans. Take 20-30 pills per dose with ginger soup, at any time. For hemiplegia due to wind-dampness, take with wine. For infantile convulsions, take 3-5 pills with mint soup.
